Job Title:
Welder Helper Job Description We are looking for a dedicated Entry level welder/helper to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in grinding materials, moving efficiently between tasks, and organizing completed jobs. You will assist with the selection, cutting, and preparation of pipes, as well as help assemble and install various piping systems. This position offers a hands-on learning experience under the guidance of experienced team members, providing opportunities to develop technical skills and industry knowledge. Responsibilities Grind pipe, rails, and miscellaneous materials to meet company quality standards. Work at a fast pace to meet job deadlines and move efficiently from job to job. Keep jobs organized after welding and grinding is complete. Assist with selecting pipe types, sizes, and materials based on job specifications. Support cutting, threading, and preparing pipes using appropriate tools under supervision. Help assemble and install metal and nonmetal piping systems and fittings. Assist with joining piping using methods such as welding, threading, soldering, or brazing. Observe and support welding activities while developing skills in various techniques. Work alongside experienced team members to learn proper equipment use and welding methods. Perform material handling, job site organization, and other duties as assigned. Essential Skills Experience with pipe fabrication, MIG welding, and metal finishing. Proficiency in using hand tools and grinders for cutting and assembling pipes. Ability to perform minor welds and read blueprints accurately. Knowledge of welding, industrial processes, carbon steel, and flux core techniques. Additional Skills & Qualifications Demonstrate knowledge of basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractions). Ability to work within precise limits or standards of accuracy and evaluate information using measurable standards. Ability to work easily and skillfully with hands and repeat tasks of short duration according to a set procedure. Ability to maintain a positive attitude and be willing to work in a team environment. Ability to communicate and deal effectively with team leader and teammates. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role requires working 40-55 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with potential for Saturdays as needed. The work takes place in a very clean and organized manufacturing shop, with shifts running from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, and extending to 4:30 pm if necessary. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Richmond, VA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
