Job Description

Position Overview:
The Assistant Miller provides hands-on support for milling operations, including equipment adjustments, process monitoring, sanitation, warehousing, and quality control. Maintains accurate records, assists with troubleshooting, and gains experience to advance into higher mill roles. Responsibilities & Duties
  • Operate milling equipment to ensure specification is met
  • Monitoring grain input for moisture and ash specifications
  • Monitor milling system and adjust to maintain efficiency
  • Complete sanitation activities per the sanitation schedule
  • Receive and sample grain
  • Support the maintenance of milling equipment and other equipment within the mill
  • Perform minor repairs
  • Promote human safety, food safety, and milling efficiency
  • Ensuring proper storage of finished flour and grain, FIFO system
  • Support training of existing and newly hired employees
  • Evaluating performance of the workplace and providing feedback
  • Helping to resolve issues and disputes
  • Effectively communicate
  • Assist as need within the operations in other areas
  • Participate in food safety and SQF system by completing pre-operational inspection, production work orders, and magnet logs as well as support of the PM and MCS programs Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Two years+ manufacturing experience required
  • Possess good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well individually and as a member of a team
  • Forklift experience preferred but not required
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations including addition, subtraction, and multiplication
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Availability to work in different shifts, including weekends
  • Must be able to express or exchange ideas by means of written or spoken word and distinguish objects or equipment visually
