An operator in this position is expected to work in a hands-on fashion, to take ownership of the quality and quantity of product produced during their shift. Shift:
Monday-Friday 6:00am-2:30pm Pay:
$21•25/hour Essential Responsibilities Sets up, adjusts, and operates equipment including drill presses, lathes, shapers, routers, planers, and wood-nailing machines needed to shape, profile, turn or otherwise fabricate products made from wood material. Produces and inspects wood stair products by using hand tools or automated machinery, such as computerized numerical control (CNC) machines. Reads work orders and examines product specifications to determine setup procedures, material to be used, and proper run sequence. Verifies characteristics of materials in process, using gauges, rulers, calipers, templates, schedules, and work instructions to ensure conformance to specifications. Inspects material for defects prior to and after processing. Ensures processes are achieving goals for output, downtime, and scrap. Accurately reports production activity through system transactions, written documents, and reports. Identifies and communicates machine maintenance and / or performance issues. Ensures proper guarding and safety devices are functioning and in use. Will be responsible to train new hires or new departmental transfers. Provides coverage as needed in other areas within or outside of the department. May work overtime, alternate shifts and weekends as needed on short notice. Performs other tasks as assigned. Basic Qualifications (required) Must be 18 Years of age or older. High school diploma or GED. Ability to functionally use a personal computer to perform detailed inquiries, update information, print reports, create, and modify items daily (i.e.: Microsoft products, WMS/ERP System). Demonstratable working knowledge of arithmetic and geometry. Must be able to demonstrate the use of various measuring devices such as calipers, height gauges, and tape measures, etc. Capability to communicate efficiently with all levels of employees, management, customers, and vendors both verbally and in written form. Capacity to multi-task with speed and accuracy while prioritizing tasks and ability to maintain excellent organizational skills to effectively troubleshoot and problem-solve. Use of proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and company approved tools while remaining aware of hazards and maintaining a safe work environment. Preferred Qualifications 3 or more years' experience in manufacturing setting up and with running woodworking equipment.
