GENERAL SUMMARY
Position dimensionally inspects castings to established requirements; decides if castings conform to dimensional requirements and are acceptable for further processing.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Assure that castings are in a condition suitable for inspection, verifies that paperwork is complete and matches casting. Establish an order that ensures all required dimensions are checked. Inspect castings with all types of measuring devices as required such as micrometers, calipers, dyers, etc. Communicates inspection results by marking casting and filling out travelers, rework travelers and discrepancy tags. Safely operates all equipment and tools; adheres to safety rules and report safety problems. Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Requires a thorough knowledge of inspection principles. Must be competent in all types of measuring devices. Strong blueprint reading and math skills are required. Must have the ability to work closely with engineering and management. Must be able to work varying shifts and overtime.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Requires a High School diploma or equivalent. Strong inspection background is preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to read reports and use computer. Must be able to hear well enough to communicate with co-workers. Must be able to stand to open files and operate office machines; mobility between departments and to attend meetings of employees and managers. Climbing/Stooping/Kneeling. Lifting/Pulling/Pushing. Fingering/Grasping/Feeling.
PHYSICAL DIMENSIONS
Ability to exert up to thirty-five pounds of force to move objects. Ability to work in conditions which may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and varying temperatures.
