Job Description
Kaufman Construction is a family owned business that has been operating in Thurston County since 1965. We have a strong platform of employees and offer a competitive benefits package. We are currently looking for experienced Sheetmetal / Iron Workers to join our team.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILTIES
- Measure and mark dimensions and reference lines on metal sheets.
- Drill holes in metal for screws, bolts and rivets.
- Install metal sheets with supportive frameworks.
- Fabricate or alter parts at construction sites.
- Frame rough openings square & plumb for windows, doors, etc.
- Seal Vapor Barrier around wall penetrations.
- Align beams and girders into position.
- Verify vertical and horizontal alignment of the structural steel.
- Connect columns, beams, and girders with bolts.
- Cut Sheet Metal with proper tools and techniques.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in commercial building construction.
- Basic math skills in order to lay out, measure and mark guidelines on materials such as roofing panels with the use of calculators, dividers, scribes or rulers.
- Ability to use a wide range of hand tools and equipment.
- Able to lift heavy sheets onto roofs and move materials around.
- General understanding of how various sheet metal flashings work & how to install.
- General knowledge of wall and roof panel layout.
- Knowledge and basic understanding of Commercial Construction Safety Standards.
