Job Description

Job Title:
Production Worker Job Description The Production Worker supports the creation of custom cabinets, solid surface countertops, window sills, and other custom products by reading work orders, operating woodworking machinery, and using hand and power tools. This role plays a key part in a small, collaborative production team focused on quality craftsmanship and safe, efficient operations. Responsibilities Work from cut lists and work orders to create accurate parts for custom cabinets and related products. Assist in the fabrication of solid surface countertops, window sills, and other custom components. Operate woodworking machinery such as table saws, band saws, drills, sanders, routers, and related equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Use hand tools and small power tools to cut, shape, assemble, and finish wood and solid surface materials. Follow established production processes and quality standards to ensure all parts meet required specifications. Inspect workpieces for accuracy, quality, and finish, making adjustments as needed. Support general production and assembly tasks as needed to meet daily and weekly production goals. Read and interpret work orders and instructions to determine materials, measurements, and methods required. Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper storage and handling of tools, materials, and equipment. Follow all safety procedures, including the use of required personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hearing protection, and respirators where applicable. Collaborate with team members, communicate effectively, and contribute to a positive, team-oriented work environment. Be available and willing to work overtime when production demands require it. Essential Skills Basic understanding of woodworking tools, wood-cutting equipment, and related machinery. Proficiency in the use of hand tools and small power tools for cutting, shaping, and assembling materials. Ability to read and follow work orders, cut lists, and production instructions. Experience in cabinet making, woodworking, wood finishing, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Demonstrated excellent work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail. Willingness and ability to work overtime when needed. Comfort working with and operating production machinery and equipment in a manufacturing environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Vocational degree in woodworking or a related field is helpful. Background in construction, production, assembly, or machine operation is beneficial. Experience with inspection and quality checks in a production setting is an asset. Ability to learn and adapt to different machines, tools, and fabrication processes. Standard hours are Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with overtime available as needed. The work involves exposure to wood dust in a well-ventilated facility, with respirator fitting provided for areas where it is required. Ear protection is provided and used in designated areas, and safety glasses are required at all times. The role involves regular use of woodworking machinery, hand tools, and power tools, and requires adherence to all safety procedures and use of appropriate personal protective equipment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of La Crosse, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $18.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
