Manufacturing Associate Job Description
JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE
Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Manufacturing Associate sets-up, operates and maintains manufacturing and support equipment, ensuring that efficiency and quality are maintained to the highest standard.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Carefully handles customer products from receiving, through manufacturing and shipping, ensuring parts are not damaged, lost or improperly processed. Maintains all equipment per recommended inspection, maintenance and cleaning frequencies. Documents and organizes maintenance logs and production details. Ensures the safety of all personnel, visitors, equipment and facility. Works with co-workers to address and resolve manufacturing problems and to ensure the continuous, on-going improvement of processes and methods to improve productivity and quality. Works with outside vendors to secure high-quality supplies at the most cost-effective rate. Assists in training new or less skilled associates. Must be able to operate a variety of hand tools, power tools, measuring equipment, forklift, production related equipment, personal computer, calculator, telephone, photocopier, etc. EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Prior experience working in a demanding manufacturing environment Prior job experience making decisions based on quality, cost and customer demands.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Speak proficient English Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general technical information, procedures or regulations. Must have ability to professionally interact verbally with vendors, customers, and other people in the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Must be able to work with basic mathematical functions
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve both technical and non-technical problems by collecting and analyzing many variables in situations where only partial standardization exists. Ability to execute diverse tasks with limited direction, methodically and efficiently.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Requires a valid driver's license.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to work unsupervised being a self-starter and self-learner. Must be able to multi-task and adapt priorities in alliance with the current needs of the company. Must be resourceful, possessing desire and drive to get information needed to work through problems or- issues hindering production or improvement efforts. Must be able to work flexible hours on occasion depending on process timing, customer demand or coverage of other associates in the organization. Must be motivated, punctual and reliable.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the Manufacturing Associate is regularly required to use hands to- finger, handle, grasp, lift or feel. The Manufacturing Associate frequently is required to stand, walk, and talk and hear. The Manufacturing Associate is occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and smell. The Manufacturing Associate must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
In general, the work environment is clean, dry, ventilated and well lit. While performing the duties of this job, the Manufacturing Associate is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, heat, and vibration. The Manufacturing Associate is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
PROTECTIVE CLOTHING/EQUIPMENT REQUIRED
The Manufacturing Associate must always wear long pants and safety shoes. Hearing protection, protective gloves, face shield or other PPE must be worn as dictated by the job tasks being performed.
