Iron Pourer - 3rd Shift Mid-City Foundry Company - 4.5 Milwaukee, WI Job Details 1 day ago Qualifications 1 year Clean workspace maintenance Manufacturing company experience Entry level Full Job Description SUMMARY Under the supervision of the Melt Supervisor or leadman, the Pourer will pour molten metal into molds in a manner that will produce quality castings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management deem necessary from time to time. Pour metal into molds within temperature range to produce quality castings. Take temperature of the metal before pouring the first and last molds of ladle. Remove slag from ladle before pouring castings. Identify for the Crane Operator which molds are to be poured. Set-up and pour test bars. Ensure test bars are put in designated area at the end of the shift. Report any unsafe conditions to the Melt Department Supervisor Mark each mold with pour time and shake-out time. Make sure ladles are pre-heated before use. Maintain a clean and safe work area Assist laborer with floor setup, clamping, glue cups, and dishes Make alloys for each night's run Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Work Experience Needed:
One to three years of verifiable work history. Experience working in a foundry environment preferred. Language Skills Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. The individual must also have the ability to communicate effectively in one-on-one situations to other employees in the organization. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Must have the ability to determine whether or not the metal is at the correct temperature before it is poured. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or touch and talk or hear. The employee occasionally is required to reach above shoulders, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move items up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and or move items up to 50 lbs, and occasionally lift and/or move items up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Slag Skimmer, Pyrometer and ladles
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet, humid conditions (non-weather) and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Because of the nature and activity of the job, employee must always be looking and listening in his work area.
PROTECTIVE CLOTHING/EQUIPMENT REQUIRED
Hardhat, safety glasses with side shields, gloves that are flame-resistant, jacket, long sleeves, leggings, face shield, slip-off safety shoes (#646 Kick-Off shoes from Iron Age) and hearing protection. Please note that nylon jogging pants, sweatpants and shorts can not be worn.
