Job Description

We are a structural steel fabrication company looking to add a Structural Steel Detailer to our team. This role focuses on creating accurate, production-ready drawings that support both shop fabrication and on-site construction. This is a collaborative, detail-driven position suited for someone who enjoys problem-solving, working with technical drawings, and communicating across teams. What You'll Do Review and interpret structural and architectural plans, specifications, and schedules Develop and revise shop drawings to clearly communicate fabrication and installation requirements Coordinate with project managers, customers, and shop personnel to resolve questions and clarify details Prepare and submit drawings for approval, and incorporate revisions based on feedback Create and work with CNC data used in steel fabrication processes Assist in maintaining drawing accuracy throughout the lifecycle of a project Support additional tasks as needed within the detailing and production workflow What We're Looking For Familiarity with steel detailing concepts; experience with Tekla or similar 3D modeling software is beneficial General knowledge of structural steel fabrication and construction processes Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities Solid math skills, including geometry and trigonometry Effective communication skills—both written and verbal Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate across departments Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability Education & Experience Certificate, diploma, or associate degree in a construction-related field preferred Previous steel detailing experience or relevant coursework is a plus, but not required 3D modeling experience is helpful; training is available for the right candidate Work Environment This position is primarily office-based, with occasional time spent in the fabrication shop to review projects and coordinate with production staff.
Pay:
$23.00 - $28.00 per hour
