Quality Engineers, Quality Technicians, Inspectors, and Quality Support Staff (TBD) The Quality Control Section Manager is responsible for leading all plant quality activities within a Tier 1 automotive seating manufacturing environment. This position oversees quality assurance systems, production quality control, customer quality, APQP activities, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure compliance with
OEM, IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO
14001, and
ISO 45001
standards. This role will work cross-functionally with Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Launch, Supply Chain, and Production teams to drive product quality, improve manufacturing performance, support customer requirements, and ensure successful program execution. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, hands-on automotive manufacturing quality experience, and the ability to manage both strategic quality systems and day-to-day production quality operations. Key Responsibilities Quality Systems & Compliance Lead and maintain plant Quality Management Systems (QMS) in compliance with
IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO
14001, and
ISO 45001
standards. Manage internal and external quality audits, including customer, registrar, and corporate audits. Ensure compliance with OEM customer-specific requirements and regulatory standards. Develop, implement, and maintain quality procedures, work instructions, and documentation. Production & Quality Control Oversee daily production quality activities to ensure product conformity and manufacturing process stability. Lead quality inspections, containment activities, and defect reduction initiatives. Monitor plant quality metrics including PPM, scrap, rework, FTQ, and customer complaints. Support manufacturing teams with problem-solving and process improvement activities. APQP / Launch Quality Support APQP activities for new product launches and engineering changes. Participate in PPAP submissions, PFMEA reviews, Control Plans, MSA, SPC, and validation activities. Collaborate with Engineering and Operations teams to ensure launch readiness and successful program execution. Customer Quality & Problem Resolution Lead root cause analysis investigations using structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, 5 Why, and Fishbone analysis. Manage corrective and preventive action (CAPA) activities and verify effectiveness of implemented solutions. Interface directly with OEM customers regarding quality concerns, corrective actions, and customer audits. Drive warranty reduction and customer satisfaction initiatives. Leadership & Continuous Improvement Lead, mentor, train, and develop quality team members across multiple shifts as needed. Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence. Partner with plant leadership to identify and implement cost reduction and quality improvement initiatives. Prepare and present quality performance reports to executive leadership. Required Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business Administration, or related technical field preferred. Experience 5+ years of progressive quality leadership experience within automotive manufacturing. Previous Tier 1 automotive supplier experience required; automotive seating experience strongly preferred. Experience supporting high-volume manufacturing environments and OEM customer requirements. Strong background in APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, MSA, SPC, and problem-solving methodologies. Experience managing quality systems within
IATF 16949
environments. Technical Skills Strong understanding of automotive quality standards and customer-specific requirements. Experience with quality audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel and PowerPoint. Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, process documentation, and statistical data.
