Big-D Heavy Industrial has an opportunity for a Quality Control Manager to join our team headquartered in Tempe, AZ. Traveling and being on jobsites is required in and out of the state of Arizona. Responsible for Contractor Quality Management and executing Big-D Quality Control Policies and Procedures. Strives to obtain a uniform, high quality level of workmanship throughout all phases of procurement, fabrication, construction, and installation, testing and commissioning of equipment and facilities. Responsible to implement and follow requirements as outlined in the construction documents. Position Summary The QA/QC Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the overall Quality Assurance and Quality Control program for construction and industrial projects. This role provides leadership for quality personnel, ensures compliance with contract requirements, and drives continuous improvement across all project disciplines. Key Roles & Responsibilities Quality Management System Leadership Develop and maintain Project Quality Plans (PQP). Establish Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs). Ensure compliance with customer, contract, and regulatory requirements. Oversee quality assurance and quality control processes company-wide. Team Leadership Lead and mentor QC inspectors, technicians, and subcontractor quality personnel. Assign inspection responsibilities and monitor performance. Conduct quality training and onboarding programs. Inspection & Compliance Oversight Manage inspections across civil, structural, mechanical, piping, welding, and equipment installation activities. Review inspection records and quality documentation. Coordinate third-party inspections and client audits.

records Turnover packages Audit & Continuous Improvement Conduct internal quality audits. Lead root-cause investigations. Implement corrective and preventive actions. Track quality metrics and key performance indicators. Client & Stakeholder Interface Serve as primary quality representative with clients and regulatory agencies. Lead quality meetings and readiness reviews. Support project startup, commissioning, and closeout activities. Preferred Skills Strong leadership and team management abilities. Extensive knowledge of quality management systems. Expertise in industrial construction quality requirements. Advanced understanding of welding, mechanical, civil, and structural inspection programs. Excellent report writing and communication skills. Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, Aconex, SharePoint, and quality-tracking platforms. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quality Management, or related field preferred. 10+ years of QA/QC experience in industrial, mining, energy, manufacturing, or heavy civil construction. 3-5 years in a supervisory or management role. AWS CWI preferred or required depending on project scope.
ISO 9001
Lead Auditor certification preferred. NACE CIP, ACI, API, or ASNT certifications preferred. OSHA 30 certification preferred.
