You will be responsible for ensuring every piece of steel leaving our facility meets project specifications, AWS D1.1 welding codes, and AISC certification standards. Unlike traditional QC roles, we require a manager who is tech-forward, someone who can leverage Tekla to track inspections and manage non-conformance reports (NCRs). Key Responsibilities Quality Management System (QMS): Act as the primary lead for our AISC Certification audits. Maintain, update, and enforce the shop Quality Manual.

Visual & Dimensional Inspection:

Oversee fit-up and final weld inspections.

Welding Oversight:

Manage the Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and ensure all welders are currently certified (WPQR) for the processes being used.

Material Traceability:

Ensure 100% traceability of heat numbers and Material Test Reports (MTRs) from receiving through to the finished product.

NDT Coordination:

Coordinate third-party Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) including Ultrasonic (UT), Magnetic Particle (MT), and Radiographic (RT) testing as required by the contract.

Digital Integration:

Champion the use of mobile tablets on the shop floor for real-time QC signoffs within the Tekla ecosystem to eliminate paper-trail lags.

Required Skills & Qualifications Certification:

Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) status is required.

Experience:

Minimum 5-7 years in structural steel fabrication.

Tekla Proficiency:

Ability to navigate Tekla to pull dimensions, check piece marks, and verify bolt patterns.

Regulatory Expert:

Deep understanding of

AISC 360

(Specification for Structural Steel Buildings) and

AWS D1.1.

Leadership:

Proven ability to halt production when quality is compromised and coach shop personnel on corrective actions.
