From a beautiful aroma that fills our bakery and storefronts, to the last loaf packaged with care, everything we bake is made to be shared. Old Town Baking Company is hiring a Quality Assurance Manager to join our team. We are looking for a reliable, hard-working individual to support our daily operations.
Position Summary:
The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for all aspects of food safety and quality at Old Town Baking Company. This role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining quality assurance programs and policies to ensure compliance with all regulatory, customer, and company standards. The Manager will lead, mentor, and manage the FSQA team, drive continuous improvement, and act as a primary point of contact for all quality-related issues.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Management:
Lead and mentor a team of Quality Assurance professionals. Conduct performance evaluations, manage labor budgets, and oversee all hiring and disciplinary actions for the department.
Program Development:
Develop, implement, and maintain the company's food safety and quality programs, including HACCP, HARPc, and all relevant GFSI (e.g., SQF) standards.
Compliance and Audits:
Ensure strict adherence to all local, state, and federal food regulations. Serve as the primary technical representative during regulatory, customer, and third-party audits.
Continuous Improvement:
Utilize data-driven analysis to identify and resolve quality issues. Lead root cause analysis initiatives and drive a culture of continuous improvement across all departments.
Supplier and Vendor Management:
Oversee the supplier qualification program to ensure all raw materials meet quality and safety specifications.
Documentation Control:
Manage all quality-related documentation, including specifications, procedures, and records.
Training:
Develop and implement comprehensive training programs for all plant personnel on food safety, quality, and compliance standards.
Communication:
Serve as the main point of contact for all quality and food safety matters, effectively communicating with internal teams, suppliers, and customers.
Qualifications:
Experience:
A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in food manufacturing , with at least 3 years in a Quality Assurance or Food Safety management role . Experience in a commercial sourdough or artisan bakery is highly preferred.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field is required. A Master's degree is a plus.
Certifications:
Certified in a Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standard such as SQF, BRC, or
FSSC 22000.
Trained as a Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) for Human Food. HACCP certification is required.
Availability:
Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks as needed Lifting up to 50 lbs. Standing for extended periods Work in various plant environments.
Pay:
$85,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
