Paper manufacturing includes tissue, machine glazed (MG), specialty papers, and related products. This role ensures systems and procedures are current, in place and adhered to; ensuring products meet customer specifications, regulatory requirements, and internal quality standards. The position partners with Mill Operations, Commercial and Technical teams to drive product consistency, customer satisfaction, and manufacturing excellence. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Lead and maintain quality, product & food safety programs (SQF), GMP compliance, SOPs, and document control processes. Provide work direction and manage Corporate Quality Engineer and site Quality & SQF Managers Maintain product specifications and ensure products meet customer, regulatory, and internal quality requirements. Oversee quality testing programs, calibration of testing equipment, and employee training on quality methods and procedures. Ensure timely customer complaint investigations, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and issue resolution. Lead execution on significant issues as required. Audit Certificates of Analysis (COA), quality data, testing records, and quality trends to ensure accuracy and promote continuous improvement. Lead audit-intensive and customer visit readiness for customers and 3rd party audits throughout GMP, SQF and quality programs. Support product & development trials, data collection, and troubleshooting efforts with Operations and the NPD Team. Lead supplier quality assurance efforts and maintain raw material and chemical approval processes. Collaborate with Sourcing, Operations, Sales, Technical, and Engineering teams to provide end-to-end risk mitigation and customer satisfaction. Provide product safety statements and documentation as required by customers Remain current with the latest regulatory and SQF requirements. Manage relationships with consultants etc. Lead collaboration to maintain required status with 3rd part sustainability and governance surveys e.g. CDP, Eco Vadis. Travel to customer locations and mill sites in regular or quick response situations for complaint resolution, training & auditing- Possibly of international customer destinations. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Paper Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Engineering, Quality Management, or related field preferred. Equivalent experience considered. 5+ years of experience in a leadership or responsible role involving quality, food safety and regulatory compliance in a continuous industrial manufacturing environment, preferably in tissue, paper or converting with products supporting Retail, QSR, CPG or food environments. Understanding of papermaking processes, quality test methods, product specifications, and data interpretation, root cause analysis preferred. Experience with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Safe Quality Foods (SQF), HACCP, FDA, GFSI or similar product safety requirements Working knowledge of document control systems including SOPs, ISO, and quality procedures and change management. Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word required. Experience with PARC view and JD Edwards is a plus. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate across all levels of the organization. Ability to safely navigate manufacturing environments with occasional exposure to heat, humidity, dust, high noise and vibration.
