Quality Control Manager Des Moines, IA 50313 Full-time Full-time Quality Control Manager On-site | Full-Time | U.S. Work Authorization Required Position Summary The Quality Control Manager is responsible for ensuring that all raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods consistently meet established quality specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. This role leads to product inspection, testing, and release activities, ensuring product integrity from production through distribution. The position partners closely with production to proactively identify and resolve product quality issues and drive continuous improvement in product performance and consistency. Oversee inspection, testing, and evaluation of raw materials, in-process batches, and finished products to ensure compliance with defined quality specifications. Lead product release decisions, ensuring only products that meet all quality and safety standards are approved for distribution. Provide leadership, direction, and support to a team of Quality Control Technicians responsible for product inspection and testing; provide training and performance feedback. Establish, maintain, and continuously improve product quality standards, test methods, and acceptance criteria. Monitor product quality performance, including defects, deviations, and variability; analyze trends and implement improvements to enhance product consistency. Lead investigations into product nonconformance, ensuring root causes are identified, and corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) are implemented to protect product integrity. Partner with production and engineering teams to resolve product quality issues and optimize processes that directly impact product performance. Ensure proper sampling, testing, and documentation of product quality data throughout the production lifecycle. Ensure all product-related documentation (test results, batch records, specifications) is accurate, complete, and audit-ready. Support and participate in audits and inspections with a focus on product quality systems and outcomes. Communicate product quality expectations, issues, and performance metrics to internal teams and leadership. Meets all Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) requirements; participate in food safety meetings as required. Cultivates and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations; identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions; participate in safety meetings as required.

Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in microbiology, chemistry, food science, or a related field Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the food and beverage industry or a combination of years of experience and/or education Demonstrated experience in product quality control, including inspection, testing, and release of finished goods Experience leading product quality investigations and implementing corrective actions Experience supervising or leading teams in a quality or manufacturing environment strongly preferred Working knowledge of data analysis and basic statistical methods Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Proficiency in standard software tools for documentation and data tracking Preferred Qualifications SQF (Safe Quality Food) Practitioner certification or similar food safety certification Bilingual communication skills (preferred) Prior experience in food safety or regulatory compliance Work Expectations This is a regular, full-time position with daily hours on site. The ability to be available for work daily and extended hours as necessary. Work is performed in a warehouse environment, manufacturing plant and occasionally outside in what may be adverse weather conditions. The work environment can involve exposure to heat, cold, humidity, moving machinery, extreme noise, visual strain, close quarters, fumes, odors, dust mists, and gases. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. This position requires long periods of sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing and operating machinery. The employee should be able to lift and/or move items up to up to 50+ pounds several times per day. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Required to perform essential functions at heights of more than 8 feet. Travel This position requires up to 5% of travel to customers or conferences.
