Job Description
Summary Responsible for planning, coordinating, and maintaining product food safety programs designed to ensure quality production of products consistent with established standards. Responsible for oversight and coordination of daily laboratory activities, including managing QA and Laboratory Technicians, maintaining equipment and lab productivity assessments. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Manage analytical and microbiological testing programs. Manage and perform environmental testing and monitoring programs. Manage finished product and raw material QA Hold and Release functions. Prepare and collect all food safety documentation. Investigate raw material and finished product analysis trends. Communicate deficiencies and suggest opportunities to Management. Assist QA and Technical Services Manager with employee training programs to instill quality mindset across company personnel. Assist QA and Technical Services Manager to manage corrective action implementation throughout the facility. Negotiate, maintain, and communicate specifications between end customers, raw material suppliers, and other internal and external stakeholders. Serve as back up for the QA and Technical Services Manager and direct reports. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Animal Science or related field; 3-5 years or more of related experience in laboratory or Food Safety setting. Preferred Qualifications PCQI and/or SQF Certification preferred Ability to manage time effectively, work independently and display solid follow up techniques. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Exceptional problem solving & organizational skills; works proactively, able to multi-task. Experience working with regulatory departments and agencies for import and export compliance. Proficient computer skills. Physical Demands Frequently required to walk and stand. Occasionally sit, balance, stoop, bend and kneel. Occasionally must push, pull, move or lift to 50 lbs. Regularly required to reach with hands and arms. Work Environment Job functions will be carried out in a manufacturing facility and laboratory environment; will frequently be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; will be occasionally exposed to heights, fumes or airborne particles, and/or chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
