We are moving into an additional manufacturing facility and are seeking a hands-on Quality Assurance Manager to help take the new plant through SQF certification and build a strong food safety and quality culture from the ground up. This is an opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and wants to play an active role in building and improving systems as we grow. Position Summary The Quality Assurance Manager must have strong food manufacturing experience and will lead food safety, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and SQF readiness within our manufacturing facility. This is a highly hands-on position, with approximately 50% of the role spent on the production floor observing operations, identifying issues, coaching employees, and ensuring procedures are being followed. The ideal candidate is a builder and problem-solver — someone equally comfortable preparing for an SQF audit, improving an SOP, training a production employee, or stepping onto the floor to address an issue in real time. Key ResponsibilitiesFood Safety & Compliance Lead the new facility through SQF certification and maintain ongoing compliance Lead and maintain food safety and quality programs including:
SQF / HACCP
GMP and FDA compliance Sanitation programs Allergen controls Environmental monitoring Traceability and recall readiness Maintain facility readiness for customer, regulatory, and third-party audits Develop and improve SOPs, quality documentation, and training systems Manage CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Actions) Maintain a strong presence on the production floor to identify and resolve quality and food safety issues Supplier & Ingredient Quality Oversee incoming ingredient inspections and specifications Work closely with purchasing and vendors to maintain quality standards Team Leadership & Training Lead QA staff and build a strong quality culture throughout the facility Train and coach employees on GMPs, food safety, sanitation, allergen controls, and quality procedures Serve as the primary quality resource for production, operations, R D, purchasing, sanitation, and leadership Qualifications 5+ years of QA experience in food manufacturing Experience helping lead a food manufacturing facility through SQF certification strongly preferred Experience in bars, snacks, bakery, nutraceutical, or functional foods preferred Strong knowledge of SQF, HACCP, GMPs, FDA regulations, and food safety systems Experience leading audits and regulatory inspections Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred Strong trainer, communicator, and hands-on leader Comfortable spending significant time on the production floor Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Quality Assurance, or related field preferred Experience with protein bars, supplements, or functional ingredients is a major plus Compensation & Benefits $75,000 annual salary Growth opportunity within a rapidly expanding company Collaborative, entrepreneurial, hands-on culture Opportunity to help build a premier functional food manufacturing operation
