Job Description

DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Mammographer Tech / Quality Control Coordinator oversees QC, Inspections, and ACR at BMC-Women's Imaging and Northern Berkshire BMC-Imaging Mammography, as well as other duties as assigned. Independantly performs a wide variety of technical procedures requiring judgment and expertise in all aspects of Mammography QC. Maintains a collaborative relationship with the radiologists. Remains an expert in the Mammography field and educated in all new technologies utilized on site. Responsible for the oversight of all mammography quality control which includes performing, record maintenance and submission of all data for State, Federal, ACR and Mammography Quality Standard Acts inspections. Role models Patient Experience Excellence in every interaction. Practices infection control and isolation in clinical practice in compliance with departmental/hospital policies and OSHA standards. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times. Demonstrates proper operation of PACS, HIS and RIS computer systems. Demonstrates ability to troubleshoot MIS and PACs applications. Attends annual mandatory education to include blood borne pathogens, infection control, and body substance isolation. Maintains department competencies as required and practices best practice sharing with peers in the BHS system for learning opportunities.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
(Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.)
Experience:
Two years as a diagnostic technologist preferred. One year as a mammography technologist preferred but will train candidates. QC/ACR experience preferred.
Education and Training:
Must have completed formal ACR approved Radiologic Technology program for radiology and mammography.
License, Certification & Registration:
ARRT(M)
  • Mammography ARRT(RTR)
  • Registered Technologist Radiography CPR
  • CPR Required. MALIC(R)(M)
  • Mass License in Radiography and Mammography.
Other Requirements:
Must have excellent patient care skills along with good team building skills. Must be current with all continuing education for both radiology and mammography. Must be an excellent communicator with independent critical thinking.
