Role Purpose The Plant Quality Manager is accountable for product and process compliance with regulatory, customer, and Corning standards. The Plant Quality Manager provides leadership, development, and coaching for the plant quality organization. As a member of the Plant Leadership Team, the Quality Manager shares accountability for overall plant performance in safety, quality, service, and continuous improvement. This role promotes a strong culture of Quality throughout the plant and ensures compliance with all quality systems, policies, procedures, and practices, as well as all local, state, federal, and Corning safety regulations, policies, and procedures. Key Responsibilities Establish, review, and manage plant quality systems (including ISO documentation and records retention) and lead plant quality personnel to ensure products meet all customer requirements. Respond quickly and effectively to customer complaints and quality issues, serving as the customer advocate within the plant. Partner with process and product improvement teams to define key product attributes and develop appropriate control strategies and feedback loops to ensure expected performance. Continuously improve quality function spending to support cost reduction initiatives. Work with external vendors and suppliers to ensure consistent quality standards and protocols are established and rigorously followed for materials, supplies, and manufactured goods. Support manufacturing in the evaluation and qualification of new supplier materials. Manage department budgets and quality-related expenditures. Determine yield and/or financial impact of proposed changes in product specifications. Lead cross-functional project teams to resolve and permanently fix customer quality issues. Perform process capability analysis as required. Provide statistical design and analysis support to internal plant departments. Oversee all customer quality audits and lead corrective action teams to address and resolve audit findings. Work Hours Standard hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Responsible for supporting a 24/7 plant operation; occasional off-hours support may be required. Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Engineering 8+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment Progressive leadership responsibility, including supervisory experience in quality, operations, or engineering Demonstrated experience leading teams through continuous improvement efforts, step‑change performance improvements, innovation, capability expansion, or organizational change initiatives Required Skills Experience with plant startup and establishing quality systems Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to effectively lead diverse teams and influence at all levels of the organization Proven supervisory skills in a manufacturing environment Working knowledge of ISO quality standards Experience in discrete manufacturing Six Sigma Green Belt certification Desired Skills Six Sigma Black Belt certification ASQ (American Society for Quality) certification Experience supporting innovation projects or new product introductions Soft Skills Collaborative team player who works effectively across functions and leadership levels Self‑motivated leader with strong ownership and initiative in addressing quality and operational challenges Trusted business partner who aligns quality priorities with plant and business objectives Demonstrated ability to embrace, lead, and sustain change in a manufacturing environment Strong commitment to excellence and continuous improvement beyond the current state Effective at allocating and managing resources through direct leadership and influence Proven ability to coach, develop, and strengthen team capability This position does not support immigration sponsorship. The range for this position is $134,306.00 - $184,671.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. ​ A job that shapes a life.
