Quality Manager Position Summary The Quality Manager is a key member of the plant leadership team responsible for driving product and process quality, customer satisfaction, continuous improvement, and a strong quality culture. The role provides leadership for the Quality Management System and Quality organization while partnering with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and other functions to prevent defects, reduce quality risk, improve performance, and ensure customer requirements are consistently achieved. Key Responsibilities Quality Leadership and Culture Provide leadership and direction for the plant Quality function, establishing priorities aligned with business objectives and customer expectations. Promote a culture in which quality is owned across the organization and problems are addressed through prevention, accountability, and fact-based decision making. Partner with plant leadership to identify quality risks, improvement opportunities, and priorities. Develop, coach, and strengthen the Quality team while promoting quality awareness throughout the organization. Product and Process Quality Drive continuous improvement in product and manufacturing-process quality, including reduction of defects, scrap, rework, and quality escapes. Lead cross-functional problem solving for significant or recurring issues and ensure corrective actions eliminate root causes and prevent recurrence. Partner with Engineering and Manufacturing to strengthen process controls, capability, error prevention, and product-quality performance. Ensure quality risks are identified and controlled during new-product introduction through effective APQP, FMEA, Control Plans, validation, PPAP/ISIR, and lessons learned. Customer Satisfaction Lead customer-quality performance and serve as a key interface for significant customer quality matters. Monitor customer complaints, scorecards, returns, and other indicators of customer satisfaction and establish improvement actions where needed. Lead quality escalation and recovery activities, ensuring effective containment, root-cause analysis, corrective action, and communication. Translate customer expectations and feedback into internal improvement priorities. Continuous Improvement and Performance Establish and monitor key quality metrics and use performance trends to identify risks and improvement opportunities. Lead cross-functional initiatives to improve quality, reduce Cost of Poor Quality, and strengthen manufacturing performance. Ensure improvement actions have clear ownership, measurable objectives, and effective follow-through. Promote standardization and deployment of lessons learned and best practices. Quality Management System and Supplier Quality Provide leadership and governance for compliance with IATF 16949, applicable ISO requirements, customer-specific requirements, and company standards. Ensure the Quality Management System supports effective business and manufacturing processes rather than functioning solely as a compliance system. Maintain organizational readiness for customer, internal, and third-party audits and ensure findings result in sustainable improvements. Partner with Supply Chain and Engineering to improve supplier quality performance, including supplier escalation, corrective action, development, and new-program readiness. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or related discipline, or equivalent experience. Progressive quality experience within a manufacturing environment, preferably automotive, including leadership responsibility. Strong knowledge of IATF 16949, automotive Core Tools, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, MSA, SPC, and structured problem solving. Demonstrated ability to lead teams, influence cross-functional organizations, drive continuous improvement, and manage customer-quality relationships. Strong analytical, communication, leadership, and organizational skills. Ability to travel nationally and internationally as required.
Pay:
$90,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
