Job Description

Director of Quality We are seeking an experienced and driven Director of Quality to lead the development, implementation, and oversight of our Quality Management System (QMS). This senior leadership role is critical to ensuring our products and services consistently meet internal standards, customer expectations, and all applicable regulatory requirements. The Director of Quality will lead multidisciplinary quality teams, collaborate across the organization, interface with customers and regulatory bodies, and champion a culture of compliance, accountability, and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities Quality Leadership & Strategy Develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System in alignment with industry standards and regulatory requirements. Ensure company-wide compliance with customer requirements, consensus standards, and regulatory frameworks. Stay current with applicable regulations and standards, including FAA requirements. Team Leadership & Development Direct and manage a department of up to 25 employees, including engineers, technicians, inspectors, and administrative personnel. Hire, train, mentor, and evaluate staff to build a high-performing quality organization. Foster a culture of quality awareness, ownership, and continuous improvement. Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement Conduct audits, inspections, and management reviews to ensure adherence to quality standards. Analyze quality data and performance metrics; identify trends, root causes, and drive corrective and preventive actions. Lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and strengthen quality performance. Cross-Functional & External Collaboration Partner with Engineering, Production, Purchasing, and Customer Service to integrate quality and compliance into all processes. Work closely with Purchasing to monitor and improve supplier and vendor performance. Serve as the primary quality representative for customer communications related to compliance, audits, and complaints. Interface with regulatory bodies and participate in external audits as required. Management & Reporting Monitor, measure, and report quality performance metrics to senior leadership. Advocate for quality improvements and resource needs. Manage departmental budget and resource planning. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a technical or management-related field. Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in Quality Assurance, including supervisory and managerial responsibility. Direct experience working with FAA regulatory rules and agencies, including certification and Parts Manufacturing Approval (PMA). Proven experience leading quality teams within a manufacturing environment. Preferred Qualifications Direct experience with AS9100 quality management systems. Skills & Abilities Strong knowledge of manufacturing, inspection processes, and quality data systems. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels, customers, and regulatory bodies—written, verbal, and in person. High attention to detail with strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in preparing, typing, filing, and managing documentation (electronic and physical). Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions in English.
Salary :
$150,000 - $175,000 annually Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Plainview, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $72.00 - $85.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
