  • Friday Job Overview The QC Manager plays a key role in executing assigned Quality tasks.
This includes planning, directing, and coordinating work activities and providing strategic direction for the implementation and maintenance of quality systems throughout the site. Key Responsibilities Support Operations and Manufacturing Services in assuring company quality standards are met. Establish finished product target weights, verification checks, and conformance to regulatory requirements. High level of proficiency pertaining to testing equipment, and other lab equipment, as well as being the SME for Quality procedures and policies for the site. Proficient at completing gram stains, direct microbial counts and has an in-depth understanding of Dairy microbiology. Conduct investigative research on products or materials. Review, trend, and implement corrective and preventive actions pertaining to environmental sample testing and analytical lab result reporting. Investigate, trend, reply to consumer complaints that are specific to the site. Set up documentation and sterile sampling for sample shipments. Utilize proper shipping methods. Demonstrate the ability to conduct equipment calibrations and troubleshooting as needed. Troubleshoot, isolate problems, and repair lab equipment as needed. Capable of performing preventive maintenance and validation testing on all lab equipment. Review products and assess eligibility for product release in accordance with company policy. Responsible for complying with GMP's, SOP's, corporate and/or plant policies, rules, and regulations. Min. Qualifications Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, food science, Ag-tech or equivalent 2-3 years' direct experience in managing lab operations and staff is preferred. SQF or similar quality systems experience preferred. Versed in Six Sigma, 5S, and Problem solving focusing on Continuous Improvement Microsoft Windows and software architecture is required. Byrne Headquartered in LaFayette, Byrne is a Central New York-based dairy company with a legacy spanning over 90 years. Its operations include an extended shelf-life (ESL) and ultra-high temperature (UHT) pasteurization plant in DeWitt, as well as an ESL manufacturing facility in Cortlandville. Byrne also maintains warehouse facilities in Syracuse and East Syracuse, along with a dedicated ice cream center in Syracuse.
