This role ensures that products meet customer specifications, regulatory requirements, and internal quality benchmarks through proactive process control, continuous improvement initiatives, and cross-functional leadership. Key Responsibilities Quality Systems & Compliance Develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with ISO 9001 or
IATF 16949
standards Oversee all quality documentation, including control plans, inspection records, NCRs, and corrective action reports Ensure compliance with customer-specific requirements, industry standards, and applicable regulatory frameworks Lead internal and external quality audits; manage third-party certification bodies Production & Process Quality Establish and enforce inspection protocols for incoming materials, in-process fabrication, and finished goods Implement and monitor Statistical Process Control (SPC) and measurement system analysis (MSA / Gage R&R) Analyze defect trends and scrap data; drive root cause analysis (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone) and permanent corrective actions Oversee weld inspection, dimensional verification, surface treatment, and coating quality per applicable standards (AWS, ASME, AISC) Customer & Supplier Quality Serve as the primary quality liaison for customers; manage customer complaints and 8D responses on time Conduct supplier qualification and ongoing performance monitoring; lead supplier corrective action requests (SCARs) Review and approve first article inspection reports (FAIRs / PPAP submissions) for new parts and programs Leadership & Continuous Improvement Train and develop team members in quality requirements, tools, expectations, etc. Champion a culture of quality and accountability across all departments — engineering, production, purchasing, and shipping Lead Lean / Six Sigma initiatives to reduce waste, improve yield, and lower cost of poor quality (COPQ) Report quality KPIs (PPM, OTD, scrap rate, COPQ, audit findings) to senior leadership on a regular cadence Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Materials Science, or a related technical field preferred. 5+ years of quality leadership experience in metal fabrication, sheet metal, structural steel, or metal precision machining Demonstrated knowledge of
ISO 9001
2015; current certification highly preferred Proficiency with GD&T, blueprint reading, CMM equipment, and standard metrology tools Hands-on experience with welding inspection (CWI certification a plus) and coating/finishing quality Strong command of quality methodologies:
FMEA, SPC, APQP, PPAP, MSA, 8D
Proven leadership skills with experience managing teams Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to present to customers and executive leadership Preferred Qualifications ASQ Certified Quality Manager (CQM), Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), or Six Sigma Black Belt Experience with ERP/MES systems (SAP, Oracle, Epicor, Visual) and quality management software Familiarity with
NADCAP, AS9100
(aerospace), or customer-specific quality requirements (Ford Q1, GM BIQS, etc.) Background in laser cutting, stamping, powder coating, welcing, or heavy structural fabrication Work Environment & Physical Requirements Regularly works in a manufacturing/shop floor environment; exposure to noise, heat, and metal debris Must be able to stand, walk, and observe production operations for extended periods Occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs; use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required on the floor Some travel may be required for customer visits, supplier audits, or industry conferences

$65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
