Job Description Position Summary:
The Quality Manager reports to the General Manager with dotted-line responsibility to the division and corporate quality departments. The Quality Manager is responsible for controlling Helicomb's Quality Management System (QMS) by understanding customer contractual requirements, PCC quality requirements, and the applicable regulatory and statutory requirements (including but not limited toAS9100/ISO9001, NADCAP, FAA, JAA, EASA
). The Quality Manager will interpret these requirements and establish the necessary quality processes, procedures and plans. The Quality Manager will be the focal point for all audits, CARs, SCARs, deviation requests, personnel training matrix, bi-annual management review, QMS updates, and change board activities. The person in this position will oversee all members of Helicomb's Quality Department, including inspectors, laboratory personnel and the quality engineer. This job is a hands-on position, and the expectation is a strong work ethic and team spirit that may require the Quality Manager to support inspection or administrative duties as needed.Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsible for the development of techniques and procedures for inspecting and testing products and services, and for conducting research on non-conformance(s) in order to enhance product and services and/or quality standards based on this research and analysis. Oversees all laboratory testing activities, including chemical analysis and process control testing, ensuring methods are executed accurately, results are validated, and testing practices consistently support product quality, process capability, and regulatory compliance. Formulates and maintains quality objectives and coordinates objectives with QMS procedures in cooperation with other department managers to maximize product and service reliability and conformance. Prioritizes daily functions to standardize the continuous manufacture of conforming products and services; procedures, processes. Promotes, and organizes training activities related to product quality and reliability; investigates and addresses customer complaints regarding quality. Responsible for internal and external audits. Establish, implement and maintain processes and procedures needed to meet requirements of AS9100/ISO9001, NADCAP, PCC, Customer, FAA/EASA, and other regulatory and statutory requirements in support of the Quality Policy and Quality Objectives. Report to top management on the performance of the quality management system and any need for improvement. Ensure promotion of the awareness of customer requirements throughout the organization. Exercise organizational freedom to resolve matters pertaining to quality. Organize and promote company-wide continual improvement and preventative action efforts. Lead effective root cause analysis and corrective action responses to internal and external quality problems. Evaluate and develop improved techniques for the control of quality, reliability and safety. Is principal liaison with auditors, FAA/EASA, DOD and customer quality functions Conduct performance reviews of Quality Staff and establishes performance and development objectives. Provides oversight and governance of all calibration activities for monitoring and measuring equipment, ensuring compliance with AS9100 requirements, maintaining equipment accuracy, and verifying that calibration records, intervals, and traceability meet regulatory and customer standards. Define & provide effective training for personnel performing quality system processes. Participate in customer PO review process Supplier purchase order review and new supplier set-up Controls Quality records Accumulates and reports of cost of quality data. Administers an effective internal audit program ensuring verification that the quality system is conforming to requirements. Act as the designated Management Representative for AS9100/ISO9001 and NADCAP audits and lead the bi-annual management review. Evaluate and disposition nonconforming products and materials in accordance with established procedures and work instructions. (Note:
Quality does not disposition - this is an engineering function. Quality will carry out the disposition.) Establish and direct Nadcap and Customer compliant SPC Program. GIDEP registration and point of contact for Helicomb Manage customer and government source inspection requirements Lead MRB activities. Actively support and participate in continuous improvement through employee empowerment, team meetings, and holding him/herself, as well as others, accountable for sustaining improvements. Bachelors Degree preferred but not required. Degree or Certification in Quality or Engineering preferred five or more years of broad technical experience, of which at least three years should be in quality administration/management and/or quality engineering 5 (five) or more years of Aerospace Quality experience preferredLocation Profile:
