Today we operate over 9 galvanizing plants in the U.S., featuring exceptional service to small fabricators as well as companies known worldwide. We are hiring for a Quality Control Coordinator at V&S Lebanon Galvanizing LLC , located in Jonestown, PA.
Summary:
The Quality Control (QC) function ensures that all incoming and processed materials meet customer specifications and industry standards. This role is critical for maintaining compliance with
ASTM A123/A153
requirements, preventing defects, and safeguarding customer satisfaction. QC personnel must exercise meticulous attention to detail, follow established procedures, and communicate promptly to resolve any discrepancies.
Responsibilities:
Receiving Verify Order Details:
Confirm the scheduled due date and ensure all required tags and identification are present on the order (Blue = No Quench, Red = Rush).
Inspect Incoming Material:
Match incoming customer steel against order forms and delivery documents for quantity and compliance with
ASTM A123/A153
standards. Record the Black Yard Location on Form F07 'Scale Sheet.' Check for proper design, surface defects, venting, damage, and steel type (e.g., cast iron, heat-treated, high-strength). Confirm accurate counts against customer paperwork.
Address Discrepancies:
If issues are identified, attach an orange Quality Problem Tag (Form F08), note the issue on the Scale Sheet, and submit Form F09 'Immediate Response Required' to Inside Sales/Customer Relations. Clearly outline corrective actions required for proper processing before shipment to the customer. Communicate all problems promptly to the Racking Department.
Follow-Up Actions:
Upon receipt of customer-approved Immediate Response Form, update the back of the quality tag with the correct processing instructions. Coordinate with the Racking Department for corrective measures (e.g., burn holes, special handling instructions). If design concerns arise, consult the Plant or Operations Manager immediately.
Inspection Surface Quality Check:
Inspect galvanized material for surface imperfections. Report any defects to the Foreman or correct minor issues immediately.
Thickness Measurement:
Obtain coating thickness measurements in accordance with
ASTM A123/A153
standards. Report any deviations from these standards to Management without delay.
Order Verification:
Compare galvanized steel against customer order forms and supporting documents. Document and report any discrepancies promptly.
Material Control:
If material is rejected, ensure it remains segregated and under strict control until corrective actions are completed.
Final Certification:
Confirm that all loads meet
ASTM A123/A153
requirements before certification. Do NOT certify any load that fails to meet these standards.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Knowledge of
ASTM A123/A153
standards 2+ years hands-on experience in a Quality Control/Inspection position or experience in a steel or coating manufacturing environment Extremely organized and analytical with high attention to detail Proven ability to coordinate and finish projects accurately and timely while maintaining accurate records Ability to communicate with internal/external customers in a professional manner Ability to life and move materials up to 50 lbs regularly Ability to operate measuring tools and inspect equipment safely Comfortable working in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions Comfortable with prolonged standing, walking, and bending during shift
