Construction Quality Control - Project Engineer, Charleston, SC Brantley Construction Company, LLC is a full-service general contractor with 50 years of experience delivering commercial, institutional, educational, and government construction projects throughout the Southeast.

The Quality Control Manager (QC) is responsible for planning, implementing, and managing all project-specific quality control activities for school construction projects. The QC ensures all work complies with contract documents, School District standards, applicable building codes, safety requirements, and project specifications. Responsibilities include managing and documenting the project quality control program; coordinating inspections, testing agencies, subcontractors, architects, and owner representatives; overseeing submittals and quality documentation; conducting preparatory and follow-up inspections; and ensuring all construction activities meet established standards of workmanship and performance. The QC serves as the primary quality control liaison between the project team, Owner, Architect, and consultants, and works closely with the Superintendent and Project Manager to ensure successful project execution. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Implement and maintain the project-specific Quality Control Plan in accordance with School District requirements and contract specifications. Coordinate and document quality control meetings with the Owner, Architect, consultants, Superintendent, and subcontractors. Prepare and maintain Daily Quality Control Reports documenting construction activities, inspections, deficiencies, corrective actions, weather conditions, manpower, and project progress. Create, update, and maintain submittal logs, RFIs, testing reports, inspection reports, closeout documentation, and all other project quality records. Review shop drawings, product data, samples, and submittals for compliance with contract documents and project requirements prior to submission to the design team. Conduct preparatory, initial, and follow-up inspections for definable features of work to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards. Coordinate required inspections and testing services with third-party testing agencies, special inspectors, and authorities having jurisdiction. Verify that all materials and installed work conform to approved submittals and contract requirements. Monitor construction activities to ensure workmanship meets project standards and manufacturer installation requirements. Identify deficiencies and non-conforming work, maintain deficiency logs, and ensure timely corrective actions are completed and documented. Coordinate punch list inspections, substantial completion inspections, and final completion inspections with the Owner and Architect. Assist with project closeout procedures, including collection of warranties, as-built documentation, operation and maintenance manuals, attic stock, and training documentation. Work collaboratively with the Superintendent and Project Manager to support project scheduling, sequencing, and quality-driven planning efforts. Support and reinforce project safety requirements in coordination with the Superintendent and Site Safety Representative to maintain a safe work environment. Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal building regulations, ADA requirements, life safety codes, and School District standards.

Problem Solving:
Ability to identify issues proactively and implement timely corrective actions to maintain project quality and schedule. Qualifications 4 year degree or equivalent Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred. 5 years of commercial or institutional construction experience, including experience as a Superintendent, Project Engineer, Project Manager, or Quality Control Manager. Previous K-12, educational, municipal, or public-sector construction experience preferred. Strong knowledge of commercial construction methods, building systems, and construction documentation. Experience managing quality control processes for occupied campus and phased construction projects preferred. OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification preferred. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and contract documents. Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and construction management software platforms. Valid driver's license Passing federal background check, E-verify and drug test required. Must have good communications skills.
