Job Description
Job Overview The Quality Assurance Supervisor plays a key role in ensuring that food safety, regulatory compliance, and quality standards are maintained throughout the facility. This role requires daily presence on the production floor, actively monitoring Operations while supporting QA to ensure processes consistently meet company and regulatory requirements. The Supervisor works closely with both QA and Operations teams to promote an audit‑ready culture and drive continuous improvement. Responsibilities Floor Oversight & Compliance (High Priority)
- Maintain daily presence on the production floor, actively monitoring Operations while supporting Quality Assurance to ensure food safety and quality standards are met.
- Conduct routine GMP observations, process checks, and verification activities across all production areas.
- Provide real-time coaching and corrective guidance to Operations personnel to reinforce adherence to GMPs, sanitation procedures, proper documentation practices, and QA requirements.
- Serve as the primary on-floor QA support resource, collaborating with Operations to identify, communicate, and resolve issues quickly. Food Safety & Quality Program Management
- Serve as Backup SQF Practitioner, supporting SQF system maintenance and documentation.
- Participate as a key member of the HACCP Team and Food Quality Plan Team.
- Support specialty programs such as the Gluten-Free Program, Organic Program, and others.
- Assist in developing, maintaining, and updating QA and food safety documentation, procedures, and work instructions. Audit & Compliance
- Support preparation for and participation in third‑party audits, customer audits, and regulatory inspections.
- Conduct internal audits, plant inspections, and facility walk-throughs to ensure continuous compliance.
- Promote and maintain an audit-ready environment across all production and storage areas. Operations & Technical Support
- Provide QA support during production runs, including sampling, testing, and monitoring activities.
- Assess quality deviations and partner with Operations to implement corrective actions.
- Recommend improvements to processes, equipment, and workflows to enhance food safety and operational efficiency.
- Perform all tasks required of QA Technicians when necessary. Leadership & Training
- Guide, train, and support QA Technicians to ensure strong floor coverage and consistent application of QA practices.
- Promote a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement across all departments. Additional Responsibilities
- Complete other duties as assigned by the QA Manager to support departmental goals and compliance requirements. Skills Bachelor's degree in Food Science or a related scientific field (preferred).
- SQF certification and PCQI certification (or ability to obtain).
- Experience in food manufacturing with strong knowledge of food safety, quality systems, GMPs, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills, especially in fast-paced production environments.
- Ability to read and interpret SOPs, equipment manuals, and regulatory documents.
- Proficiency in MS Office and electronic quality systems (preferred). Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk and move continuously throughout production and plant areas.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to bend, reach, and lift up to 20 lbs.
- Ability to work in variable temperature environments typical of food manufacturing. General Requirements
- Always follow proper safety procedures.
- Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and hygiene standards.
- Report any food safety, quality, sanitation, or equipment concerns immediately.
- Maintain professionalism and a high level of communication across all departments.
