Job Description Summary of Position The Quality Manager leads the quality control, assurance, systems, and compliance functions for the facility. This role ensures that all products meet internal specifications, customer expectations, and industry certifications. The position is hands-on, requiring daily presence on the production floor to oversee quality personnel, drive performance, and support process stability and improvement. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Quality Leadership & Oversight Lead, mentor, and support Quality Technicians and the broader quality team. Ensure adherence to Work Instructions (WI), quality checkpoints, and inspection procedures. Maintain strong floor visibility to monitor in-process checks and product quality. Lead defect analysis, root cause investigations, and corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). Quality Data & Reporting Manage and analyze quality metrics such as scrap, FTT, defect trends, and customer returns. Prepare weekly and monthly quality performance reports and dashboards. Support digital transformation of quality data collection and reporting tools. Quality Systems & Compliance Oversee internal and external audits, including ISO, customer, and certification requirements. Maintain and update quality documentation, including procedures, WI's, and the quality manual. Ensure calibration and accuracy of measuring and testing equipment (vision systems, electrical testers, simulated testing equipment, etc.). Training & Cross-Functional Support Train production employees on quality standards, defect recognition, and process expectations. Provide coaching and development for quality team members. Partner with Engineering, Production, and Maintenance on process validations, trials, and technical changes. Continuous Improvement Lead and participate in Kaizen events, Gemba walks, 5S audits, and continuous improvement activities. Identify opportunities to reduce scrap, increase capability, and improve process control. Evaluate raw materials and support supplier performance reviews. Customer & Supplier Interface Lead investigations into customer complaints, RMAs, and field return issues. Collaborate with suppliers, labs, and external partners for root cause analysis and corrective actions. Other Responsibilities Act as the primary quality leader on site and provide coverage for senior leadership as required. Perform additional duties and support special projects as assigned. Qualifications Skills Strong knowledge of quality control methods, inspection techniques, and measurement systems. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and familiarity with quality/statistical tools. Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation. Comfortable in a high-volume, precision-oriented manufacturing environment Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred. 5+ years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment required; leadership experience strongly preferred. Experience in electronics, solar, automotive, medical device, or similar precision-assembly industries is an asset. Certifications such as Six Sigma, CQI, or CQE preferred.Similar remote jobs
