Job Description

JOB OVERVIEW
The Quality Assistant Manager (or AGM) is responsible for the total product quality of all plants in all phases of operations. This position will have overall responsibility and accountability for an annual budget- P&L. This position will provide overall strategic direction to a Technical Organization, is responsible for adherence to Customers Standards, Process Capability, Development of Customer Relationships, Employee Development, and other Duties Assigned by the Board of Directors. This position will have budget and execution accountability for the following work functions.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / DUTIES
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Lead the Internal Defect Reduction Committee to drive zero-defect initiatives and improve product quality. Serve as an active member of the Preproduction Committee, ensuring quality requirements are integrated into new product launches. Analyze mid- and long-term quality trends to proactively adjust strategies, minimize risk, and optimize profitability. Monitor and measure departmental and individual performance against established KPIs; implement corrective actions as needed. Drive Strategic Quality Planning Develop and review annual budgets and departmental goals within 60 days of fiscal year-end. Conduct monthly performance reviews against budget and objectives. Foster a positive work environment, set performance standards, and maintain optimal staffing levels. Oversee quality-related budget planning and cost control. Lead problem-solving initiatives and scrap reduction programs to improve operational efficiency. Act as the primary point of contact for customer visits, audits, and meetings, ensuring strong customer relationships. Facilitate daily quality meetings focused on problem-solving, reporting, and Kaizen activities. Manage Quality Control department personnel, including training and development programs. Conduct regular internal audits and support Hoshin Kanri objectives to align with corporate strategy. Champion corporate Kaizen initiatives and continuous improvement projects. Develop and implement robust quality control policies and procedures to ensure compliance with IATF 16949 and industry standards. Oversee quality audits and implement corrective actions to maintain compliance and improve processes. Analyze quality data to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for improvement. Collaborate with production teams to resolve quality issues promptly and prevent recurrence. Train and mentor staff on quality tools and methodologies, fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Progression Path with Post-Secondary Education o Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or related discipline; Master's degree (preferred, not required). o 8+ years of progressive experience in engineering or quality management within a manufacturing environment. Progression Path without Post-Secondary Education o Highschool diploma or GED. o 10+ years of progressive safety experience in manufacturing, including 5+ years in senior leadership (automotive strongly preferred). Demonstrated success in new product launches and documentation management. Strong background in Toyota Production System (TPS) principles and lean manufacturing. Expertise in APQP, PPAP, FMEA, and other core quality tools. Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams in a high-volume production environment. Knowledge of
ISO 9001/IATF 16949
standards and audit protocols. Automotive manufacturing experience with emphasis on press/stamping operations and robotic welding systems. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and data analysis tools. Strong documentation and launch planning capabilities. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for customer-facing interactions. Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement and lead Kaizen initiatives.
