Job Description

Description:
This position is responsible for the daily operations of the quality assurance department, food safety practices, quality standards, and staff. Duties include but are not limited to: Must have the ability to perform all positions within the department Develop, implement, and manage processes to ensure that products meet required specifications for quality, function, and reliability prior to delivery Identify and set appropriate quality standards and parameters for products Communicate food safety practices, procedures, and specifications Participate and coordinate product testing processes Analyze issues with regards to specification deviations and other problems Enforce proper FSQA standards across the facility Recommend and facilitate solutions to departmental issues Review client, customer, and user feedback Ensure product meets required specifications for quality, function, and reliability Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, guidelines, and policies Perform other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Assist in the selection of new employees Oversee new employee training and continued performance monitoring Schedule and oversee the daily workflow of the quality assurance staff Handle discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy Complete performance evaluations that are timely and constructive Monitor expenditures: implement corrective actions if needed Communicate with customers and vendors as needed Ensure that all activities are completed in a timely and accurate manner Assist in the quality training and certification process
Requirements:
Required Skills/Abilities Excellent verbal and written communication skills Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Strong supervisory and leadership skills Proficient in Microsoft Office products and using a computer keyboard Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate HACCP Certification required Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent required Bachelor's degree in Food Science, animal science or related field preferred Five years of experience in meat processing, food manufacturing, or related field Three years of supervisory experience required Completion of on-the-job training may be substituted for educational requirements Physical Requirements Regular periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Prolonged periods working on feet, using tools, and performing repetitive actions that entail frequent bending and stooping. Must be able to move and lift up to 50 pounds at a time. Ability to move in, around and under equipment. Work in a refrigerated environment.
