Job Description:
The Director of Quality leads the development, implementation, and oversight of the organization's quality strategy to ensure products, processes, and operations meet the highest standards of performance, reliability, and compliance. This role is responsible for driving quality excellence across all business units and locations by establishing consistent standards, implementing best practices, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. The Director partners with engineering, manufacturing, and customer-facing teams to enhance product quality, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction. The position plays a key role in supporting organizational objectives through effective leadership and quality system management. Primary Duties The Director of Quality oversees quality functions across multiple sites, ensuring effective execution of quality strategies, compliance standards, and operational improvements. This role evaluates processes, leads organizational initiatives, and collaborates with cross‑functional teams to support consistent quality outcomes. Primary duties may include, but are not limited to: Develops and implements an enterprise-wide quality strategy aligned with organizational goals. Ensures compliance with applicable industry regulations, environmental standards, and internal quality systems. Leads continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product reliability, manufacturing consistency, and operational efficiency. Collaborates with engineering, manufacturing, and customer service teams to maintain quality standards across the product lifecycle. Oversees audits, inspections, and assessments across all locations to ensure adherence to quality expectations. Addresses quality-related issues and leads efforts to improve customer satisfaction and reduce product defects. Provides training, coaching, and development on quality methodologies, compliance requirements, and continuous improvement practices. Establishes and monitors key performance indicators to measure quality performance and drive accountability. Performs other duties as assigned. Hires, trains, coaches, counsels, and evaluates performance of direct reports.
Job Requirements Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related discipline; 10+ years of experience in quality assurance leadership within a manufacturing environment or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
Preferred:
Master's degree; industry certifications such as Six Sigma, ASQ CQE, or similar credentials. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Extensive experience leading quality assurance in manufacturing environments. Strong understanding of regulatory, environmental, and quality compliance standards. Ability to evaluate processes, identify improvement opportunities, and implement best practices. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities. Effective leadership skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams. Excellent communication and organizational skills; able to manage multiple priorities across several locations.
Essential Mental and Physical Functions:
Ability to analyze data, think strategically, and make informed decisions. Ability to lead teams and manage multiple complex quality initiatives simultaneously. Frequent standing, walking, and movement during visits to manufacturing areas. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods. Occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs.
Work Environment:
Primarily works in an office environment. Regular visits to manufacturing facilities with exposure to seasonal temperatures, dust, industrial noise, and chemical fumes. Interaction with cross-functional teams across multiple sites. Travel to company locations up to 30% of the time.
