Job Description

Job Summary The Project Architect / Quality Control supports the Design Manager and project teams throughout the design and construction phases. This position provides architectural expertise, supports design coordination, and performs project quality-control reviews to help ensure project documents and construction activities align with contract requirements, design intent, applicable standards, and project requirements. The position works closely with the Design Manager, Project Managers, Operations teams, and Designers of Record to identify design, coordination, constructability, and quality concerns and support their timely resolution. The role also serves as an architectural and technical resource for assigned projects throughout design and construction. Basic Responsibilities & Duties Supports the Design Manager with the design process, project schedules, coordination, and design deliverables. Serves as an architectural and technical resource for assigned projects. Participates in and, when assigned, leads to design and project coordination meetings. Reviews drawings, specifications, and design deliverables for coordination, constructability, completeness, and quality. Performs quality control reviews during the design and construction phases. Identifies design, coordination, constructability, and quality concerns and communicates them to the appropriate project team. Coordinates identified design and code-related concerns with the Designer of Record for review and resolution. Supports coordination between architectural, structural, civil, MEP, and other design disciplines. Assists with tracking design deliverables and communication schedule concern the Design Manager and Project Manager. Supports coordination of owner-furnished items with the project team and Designer of Record. Participates in Building Information Modeling (BIM) coordination and execution planning as needed. Reviews shop drawings and submittals assigned for coordination with project requirements and identifies potential conflicts or discrepancies. Assist Operations with design-related contract administration including submittal and shop drawing reviews during the construction phase. Conducts project site observations and quality control reviews assigned. Documents quality-control items and assist project teams with tracking identified items through resolution. Supports project closeout, punch list, lessons learned, and continuous quality improvement efforts. Communicating significant design, quality, schedule, and coordination concerns to the Design Manager, Project Manager, and senior management as appropriate. Supporting in the development of Design Consultant Contracts, including assisting in Risk Evaluation and Management Provide support to estimating team during preconstruction Assist in coordination of Pre-installation Meetings Potential for mentoring future Quality Control Inspectors Assist in development Standard Operating Procedures for Field Quality Control program Assist in identifying new technologies and innovations Perform other related duties as assigned based on project and operational needs. Qualifications Bachelor's or professional degree in Architecture or related field. Professional architectural license preferred; required when assigned responsibilities require licensure. Experience in architecture, commercial construction, design coordination, or project delivery. Working knowledge of architectural and construction documents, specifications, building systems, and applicable codes and standards. Experience reviewing design documents, shop drawings, and submittals. Ability to identify design coordination, constructability, and quality concerns. Working knowledge of BIM and design-coordination processes is preferred. Strong organizational, communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills. Ability to effectively collaborate with project management, field operations, architects, engineers, consultants, subcontractors, and owners. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong understanding of architectural design and construction document review. Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, contracts, and technical documentation. Understanding construction methods, materials, sequencing, and constructability. Ability to identify potential design and quality issues before they affect construction. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate documentation. Ability to manage multiple project priorities and deadlines. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively across design, project management, and field operations. Professional judgment and ability to appropriately elevate significant design or quality concerns. Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks Willingness to learn new technologies Physical Requirements Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods. Ability to navigate active construction sites, including uneven surfaces and stairs. Ability to occasionally lift to 25 pounds. Ability to wear required PPE and work in varying site conditions.
