JOB SUMMARY
The Quality and Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the quality assurance technicians, periodic review of paperwork, and engaging the production teams in driving food safety and quality initiatives throughout the plants. This position will coordinate the activities of the sanitation team, directing the sanitation leads on activities and ensure compliance to program plans. In addition, this position will have responsibilities related to ensuring customer, regulatory and certification compliance, such as performing environmental monitoring, executing routine inspections / reviews and coordinating dedicated meetings. This position will typically work Monday
Daily hours may vary based on need but would typically be an 8-hour shift between 6:00 AM and 7:00 PM. Occasional nights and weekends as needed.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Delegate to, train and manage the work activities of the QA and Sanitation staff. Provide performance feedback, periodic reviews and as needed performance improvement plans. Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Sanitation, and Human Resources management in recommending recruitment, hiring, promotion, transfer, pay, counseling and discipline of staff. 2. Manage technicians and act as back-up. 3. Plan and organize cost sensitive and effective auditing and testing activities. 4. Collaborate with other departments to identify needs and to optimize audit/testing of raw goods through production, packaging, and shipping of product to ensure all methodologies match business needs; if they do not, adjust methodologies, testing and other protocols to match business needs. 5. Supervise all audits and testing procedures, hold resolution, equipment calibration, etc., and coordinate with other departments to ensure all work is done in a timely, accurate, efficient and effective manner. 6. Ensure each employee complies with auditing, testing, manufacturing, equipment and safety procedures and requirements to consistently produce good results. 7. Supervise and/or monitor department and Company employees to ensure compliance with GMPs by all. 8. Communicate, train and promote food and personal safety and conduct operations in accordance with safety rules and records to obtain and retain successful internal and external audit scores. 9. Maintain and communicate product specifications for all product lines. Maintain sample program. 10. Foster a continuous improvement in performance culture. Develop goals, communicate standards, train, mentor and motivate to optimize performance and personal growth, and build leadership capability. 11. Collaborate with, participate in, and/or lead external and internal customers, suppliers and interdisciplinary teams by providing technical assistance in areas of expertise. 12. Participate in and/or lead cross functional improvement/project teams as area's proponent. 13. Conduct regular team meetings. Provide performance feedback through daily interaction, periodic reviews, and as-needed improvement plans. As appropriate, schedule daily shift hand-off meetings. 14. Generate customer required documentation, such as COAs, related to testing and expectations 15. Review and update Quality Assurance systems and procedures as needed. 16. Write / revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs) 17. Perform routine tasks and trending, which may include EMP program, customer complaints, testing results, etc. 18. Direct sanitation team activities. 19. Manage employee training schedule and records, including new employee onboarding. 20. Act as SQF Practitioner or back-up SQF Practitioner. 21. Additional Duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Minimum 2 years' experience in a related Quality Assurance and/or Sanitation environment, with at least: o 1-year experience with managing direct reports. (Mandatory) o 1-year experience with ensuring compliance with programs for food safety and quality. (Preferred) Has or can obtain the following certifications before starting date: SQF Practitioner, HACCP, PCQI (Mandatory) Ability to read, write and speak both English and Spanish fluently (Mandatory)
PREFERRED
4-year degree (such as bachelor's) in Biology, Chemistry, Food Science, or another related field. o Relevant training and experience may be substituted for some or all education requirements as deemed acceptable by management. Good understanding of food principles, pathogens, and interactions of various food systems within a product, and familiarity with FDA regulations. Ability to work occasional nights and/or weekends as necessary.
KEY COMPETENCIES
Demonstrated leadership, organization, time management, and delegation skills. Strong proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel,etc.) Familiarity with SharePoint. Ability to read and interpret legal guidance and customer expectation documents. Ability to manage multiple high importance tasks simultaneously.

Typically, standard office environment (sitting, standing, walking, etc.) Occasional need to: o Lift 25+ lbs., o Stand for long periods o Work off shifts.
