This role is ideal for mechanically strong candidates with experience in cranes, diesel systems, electrical diagnostics, hydraulics, or CAN Bus systems who take pride in ensuring every vehicle leaves the facility ready for real-world performance. The QC Inspector plays a critical role in validating build quality, verifying compliance with customer specifications, and supporting continuous improvement across the production floor. You will collaborate closely with assembly teams, engineering, sales operations, and leadership to uphold Interstate Assembly's reputation for reliability, safety, and precision. Primary Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive inspections of materials, components, sub-assemblies, and completed vehicles to ensure compliance with engineering specifications, safety standards, and customer requirements. Perform functional testing and measurements using appropriate tools, gauges, and diagnostic equipment. Document findings using Record360 and internal digital systems, ensuring accurate, timely, and detailed inspection reports. Verify corrective actions are completed by assembly teams and meet quality expectations before final approval. Monitor production processes to ensure adherence to established work instructions, quality standards, and safety protocols. Recommend process improvements and collaborate with supervisors to implement corrective or preventive actions. Apply industry codes and regulations, including OSHA, ANSI, CMAA, HMI, and other applicable standards. Assist with chassis check-in, documentation, and verification using internal software and inspection workflows. Preferred Technical Experience Candidates with any of the following will be prioritized due to the nature of Interstate Assembly's custom vehicle and crane-integrated builds: Crane operation, crane assembly, or overhead crane inspection experience Diesel mechanic background, including troubleshooting and repair Electrical systems knowledge, including wiring, schematics, and diagnostics CAN Bus diagnostic or troubleshooting experience Hydraulic and pneumatic system familiarity Experience with material-handling equipment, service bodies, or custom upfits Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Excellent attendance and reliability; ability to work overtime as needed Strong verbal and written communication skills Forklift operation experience Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and commitment to quality High attention to detail and cleanliness in work areas Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. regularly Familiarity with
OSHA, ANSI, CMAA, HMI, MIOSHA
Part 18/20, and related standards for cranes and hoisting systems Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability Experience & Education Requirements Valid Driver's License (CDL a plus) Strong mechanical knowledge and hands-on experience Must provide basic tools Demonstrated ability to identify quality issues and ensure corrective action Crane certification a plus Experience with hydraulic and air systems preferred Working Conditions & Physical Demands Standard work schedule with occasional evenings, weekends, or holidays based on production needs Frequent standing, walking, reaching, and repetitive motion Regular stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and occasional climbing or balancing Ability to regularly lift/move up to 35 lbs. and occasionally up to 75 lbs.
