Quality Assurance Technician Aries Beef Burbank, CA Job Details Full-time $22 - $26 an hour 19 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Paid time off Retirement plan Qualifications Food production Spanish Food processing plant English Incident Escalation High school diploma or GED Manufacturing facility Escalation handling Production documentation Quality control records management Full Job Description Aries Beef is a USDA-inspected meat processing and distribution facility in Burbank, California, supplying raw and further-processed beef, pork, and poultry products to foodservice and manufacturing customers across the region. We are an SQF-certified and Halal-certified operation, and quality is the backbone of every order that leaves our dock. We are looking for a Quality Assurance Technician to be our eyes on the production floor — verifying that food safety programs are followed in real time, keeping our records audit-ready, and working side by side with on-site USDA inspection personnel every day. This is a hands-on role for someone who takes documentation seriously, isn't afraid to stop a line when something is wrong, and wants to grow in a facility where QA has a direct line to plant leadership. What You'll Do Perform daily pre-operational and operational sanitation inspections (SSOPs) and document findings before and during production. Monitor and verify HACCP critical control points, product and room temperatures, and metal detection checks; initiate corrective actions and product holds when limits are not met. Conduct environmental and product sampling/swabbing per the facility's sampling programs and track results. Verify label accuracy, net weights, lot coding, and shipping documentation against approved specifications, including Halal-designated products. Maintain daily QA records to
SQF, USDA
FSIS, and customer audit standards; assist in preparing for SQF, Halal, customer, and regulatory audits. Interact professionally with on-site
USDA FSIS
inspection personnel and support responses to any noncompliance records (NRs). Calibrate thermometers, scales, and monitoring equipment on schedule. Enforce GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) on the floor and coach production employees on food safety expectations.
What We're Looking For Required:
High school diploma or GED. 1+ year of quality assurance, food safety, or production experience in food manufacturing (USDA-inspected meat or poultry facility strongly preferred). Comfortable with detailed, accurate, legible recordkeeping — paper and electronic. Able to work in a cold (35-45°F), wet production environment; stand and walk for most of the shift; lift up to 50 lbs. Willing to escalate problems immediately and hold the line on food safety, including with senior coworkers.
Preferred:
HACCP certification and working knowledge of SSOPs, 9 CFR requirements, and SQF code elements. Familiarity with lethality and stabilization requirements (FSIS Appendix A/B) for cooked products. Bilingual English/Spanish. Experience with environmental monitoring programs (e.g., Listeria control in RTE areas). Schedule Monday through Friday, 5:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Aries Beef, LLC is an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local law. Consistent with the California Fair Chance Act, qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records will be considered for employment.
Pay:
$22.00 - $26.00 per hour
Benefits:
