Full Job Description Overview:
The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the overall quality assurance of our operation in accordance with company and government regulations. This may include, but not limited to, preparing quality documentation and reports, assisting in audits, monitoring GMPs and sanitation requirements, adhering to Food Safety (HACCP) requirements and SQF standards. The ideal candidate should possess strong problem-solving skills, exhibit ethical behavior, provide organizational support, prioritize safety and security, and demonstrate excellent attendance and punctuality.
Essential Job Functions:
Prepare comprehensive quality documentation and reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends, covering areas such as failed processes, stability studies, recalls, corrective actions, and re-validations. Provide assistance in the preparation of customer and third-party audits to ensure compliance with quality standards. Monitor and enforce compliance with company and government regulations regarding Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and sanitation requirements. Adhere to the highest standards of Safe Quality Food (SQF) to ensure product safety and quality. Conduct and meticulously document periodic inspections to ensure compliance with GMP guidelines. Assist in pre-operational and environmental swabbing procedures to maintain a clean and hygienic manufacturing environment. Compile and analyze quality and statistical data using various software applications such as Microsoft Office or Google Suite. Thoroughly reviewing supplier Certificates of Analysis (COA) to verify their compliance with specifications. Collect aseptic samples for internal and external analysis, including supporting the handling of sensory samples and coordinating sensory evaluations. Conduct detailed inspections of finished products to ensure they meet specified quality criteria. Provide assistance in investigating quality issues and promptly report findings to management. Assist in the preparation of training materials and conduct training sessions on quality-related topics. Perform all duties in strict accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and ensure compliance with all Food Safety (HACCP) requirements. Support and participate in the auditing of HACCP, production, and other quality-related documentation. Assist in the coordination and completion of tasks related to the commercialization of new items. Support the process for discontinued items and manage the associated actions. Conduct verification of thermometers, scales, and labels to ensure accuracy and compliance. Maintain meticulous calibration records for equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability. Provide assistance with document control activities to ensure proper management of quality-related documents. Support the review of specifications and artwork to ensure compliance with quality standards. Assist with the implementation and management of the non-conforming and release (Hold) program. Provide support during scale-ups and tests to ensure seamless transitions and accurate results. Carry out additional general administrative tasks related to Quality Assurance as needed. Ensure finished product meets or exceeds all regulatory, industry, and customer requirements for food safety and quality. Maintain all GFSI, HACCP, food defense systems
Qualifications:
At least 2 years of exposure to Quality Assurance and Food Safety in a food manufacturing environment. Bakery experience is preferred but not required. College education is preferred. Background knowledge in food industry regulations, FDA requirements and food labeling, HACCP, GFSI, SQF. HACCP Certification is preferred
Other Skills and Abilities:
Technically proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Google Suite and various quality management software Working knowledge of applicable analytical methods and statistical analysis. Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.
