Job Description

Assistant Quality Manager South Bay Wire and Cable Company Full-Time Salary DOE This is a fully in-person position based in Idyllwild, California, located in the Riverside County mountain communities. Position Summary South Bay Wire and Cable seeks an experienced Assistant Quality Manager to support and strengthen our Quality Management System within a fast-paced manufacturing environment serving defense, aerospace, and industrial customers. This position assists in overseeing quality assurance and quality control operations to ensure products meet all company, customer, military, and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and experienced in manufacturing quality systems and continuous improvement initiatives. Opportunities for rapid advancement are available for motivated candidates. Essential Responsibilities Support and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with
AS9003, ISO
9001, military, and customer requirements. Oversee receiving, in-process, and final inspections. Manage calibration systems, inspection equipment, and gage control processes. Assist with corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), non-conformance reporting (NCR), and root cause investigations. Review manufacturing documentation, prints, specifications, and quality records. Digest complex military and commercial specifications and standards and determine relevant requirements. Be able to create and maintain a testing schedule to assist in production work planning. Support First Article Inspection (FAI) processes and customer audits. Train and mentor quality inspectors and production personnel on quality procedures and standards. Coordinate with vendors and suppliers regarding material quality and certifications. Work closely with Engineering, Production, and Operations to improve product quality and manufacturing efficiency. Qualifications Minimum 3-5 years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment. Strong understanding of reviewing purchase requirements and drawings to determine inspection methods, and quality tests required. Experience with AS9003 and/or
ISO 9001
standards preferred. Familiarity with military or defense manufacturing requirements is a plus. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Experience with root cause analysis and continuous improvement methods preferred. Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 This position involves access to information and technology that is subject to U.S. export control laws. Applicants must be authorized to access ITAR-controlled information and must qualify as a U.S. Person under ITAR regulations. Preferred Qualifications Experience in cable, aerospace, defense, or electro-mechanical manufacturing or maintenance/modernization. Working knowledge of electrical and electronic systems theory and related inspection instruments/equipment evidenced by documented education or experience on the job. Military maintenance service, commercial or Navy shipyard service or an electrical or electronic industry trade license highly desired.
