Job Summary We are seeking a Quality Control Inspector (PCB / PCBA) to ensure that printed circuit boards (bare boards and assemblies) meet rigid engineering specifications, customer requirements, and industry standards. In this hands-on role, you will perform visual, dimensional, and metallurgical inspections, interpret fabrication and assembly drawings, and document findings to maintain high yields and reliable electronics manufacturing. Your accurate inspections will help production teams identify solder and component defects early, mitigate field failures, and drive continuous quality improvement across SMT and through-hole processes.
Responsibilities Inspection & Verification:
Conduct visual, dimensional, and microscopic inspections of bare PCBs (rigid, flex, or rigid-flex) and surface-mount/through-hole assemblies (PCBA) in accordance with IPC-A-600, IPC-A-610, and
J-STD-001
Class 2/3 criteria.
Equipment Operation:
Set up and operate inspection tools, including high-magnification stereo microscopes, Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) systems, X-ray inspection equipment (AXI) for BGA/QFN voiding, solder paste inspection (SPI), digital micrometers, and optical measuring systems.
Technical Documentation:
Read and interpret PCB fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, schematics, Gerber data, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and engineering change orders (ECOs).
Defect Detection & Nonconformance:
Identify common PCBA defects—such as solder bridging, cold joints, tombstoning, insufficient wetting, component misalignment, polarity reversals, delamination, and contamination—and document Discrepant Material Reports (DMR/NCMR).
Cross-Section & Destructive Analysis:
Assist with or perform micro-sectioning, plating thickness verification (copper/gold/nickel), solderability testing, and ionic contamination testing where required.
Process & System Support:
Participate in MRB (Material Review Board) evaluations, root cause analysis (5 Whys, 8D), and ESD control audits across the assembly floor.
Quality Compliance:
Support internal and external audits under AS9100 or
ISO 13485
quality management systems.
Requirements Experience:
2+ years of hands-on quality inspection experience in electronics manufacturing, specifically focusing on bare PCB fabrication and/or PCBA (SMT/THT) manufacturing environments. Industry Certifications (Preferred): Active or prior certification in
IPC-A-610 , IPC-A-600
, or
J-STD-001
(e.g., Certified IPC Specialist / CIS).
