Quality Control Technician Job Description The Quality Control Technician ensures that all products meet established quality and safety standards by performing pre-operational inspections, conducting laboratory testing, and supporting food safety programs. This role plays a key part in maintaining Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines while working closely with production and sanitation teams in a food manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Perform pre-operational inspections of machines and instruments to verify they meet cleanliness and operational standards before production begins. Conduct ATP swabbing on equipment and surfaces to verify effective sanitation and hygiene practices. Gather product samples from the production floor and ensure production processes follow GMPs and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Perform product testing, including pH measurements, salt titrations, Brix analysis, and viscosity testing, to confirm products meet specification requirements. Review and interpret test results accurately and promptly communicate any deviations to appropriate personnel. Call for production holds when necessary to prevent nonconforming product from being released. Create Certificates of Analysis (COAs) and ensure all required information is accurate and complete. Conduct batch record reviews to verify documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with quality and regulatory requirements. Oversee and support sanitation activities to ensure adherence to HACCP, CAPA, and GMP standards. Collaborate with production and sanitation teams to reinforce quality expectations and food safety practices. Document all quality control activities clearly and maintain organized records for audits and traceability. Support continuous improvement initiatives related to quality assurance, sanitation, and process control. Essential Skills High school diploma. At least 1 year of quality assurance or quality control experience in the food or beverage industry, or a Bachelor's degree with 1 year of relevant experience. Experience working in food manufacturing environments. Hands-on experience with ATP testing and swabbing for sanitation verification. Ability to perform and interpret pH testing, salt titrations, Brix measurements, and viscosity testing. Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and ability to uphold these standards on the production floor. Familiarity with HACCP principles and their application in a food manufacturing setting. Ability to lead and influence production and sanitation teams to maintain quality and food safety standards. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in testing, documentation, and batch record review. Ability to identify quality issues and escalate them appropriately, including initiating production holds when required. Basic computer skills for creating and managing Certificates of Analysis (COAs) and quality documentation. Effective communication skills to interact with cross-functional teams and convey quality expectations clearly. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience overseeing sanitation activities within a food manufacturing facility. Familiarity with Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) processes. Experience working within structured quality assurance systems and following SOPs. Comfort working in smaller facility environments where roles may be more hands-on and cross-functional. Work Environment This role operates on the first shift as a Quality Assurance Technician in a food manufacturing facility. Typical hours are approximately 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The position is based at a smaller site, where the QA Technician gathers samples directly from the production floor and works closely with production and sanitation teams. Daily work includes ensuring adherence to GMPs and SOPs, conducting Brix, pH, and titration testing on product samples, and performing ATP swabbing on equipment and surfaces. The environment is a hands-on, production-floor setting that requires regular movement between the lab and processing areas, consistent attention to cleanliness and food safety, and comfort working in a fast-paced manufacturing operation. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Orange, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
