This role focuses on supporting battery materials research and development (R D) and various engineering projects through pouch cell testing and chemical analysis. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with engineering and research teams to perform technical tasks, including electrolyte filling, electrochemical testing, and materials characterization, contributing to the advancement of Tesla's battery technology. What You'll Do Perform precise technical tasks in the lab, such as electrolyte mixing inside a glovebox and filling Li-ion pouch cells Conduct electrochemical testing on Li-ion pouch cells to evaluate performance Dissect Li-ion pouch cells for failure analysis and extract electrolyte for composition and impurity analysis Maintain accurate and detailed records of measurements and testing results Document and update standard operating procedures for lab techniques and methodologies Ensure clean and organized lab spaces while tracking inventory of consumables for timely restocking Troubleshoot lab instruments and coordinate regular maintenance with team members and vendors What You'll Bring Strong communication skills and high level of organization Experience working in a lab environment with hazardous materials and chemicals Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word for data management and reporting Experience with cell cycling software, data analysis tools, or databasing is a plus Familiarity with air-sensitive materials or battery materials is a plus Experience operating gloveboxes is a plus Degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, or equivalent experience Compensation and Benefits Benefits Along with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire: Medical plans > plan options with $0 payroll deduction Family-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefits Dental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans, both have options with a $0 paycheck contribution Company Paid (Health Savings Accounts) HSA Contribution when enrolled in the High-Deductible medical plan with HSA Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) 401(k) with employer match, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, and other financial benefits Company paid Basic Life, AD&D Short-term and long-term disability insurance (90 day waiting period) Employee Assistance Program Sick and Vacation time (Flex time for salary positions, Accrued hours for Hourly positions), and Paid Holidays Back-up childcare and parenting support resources Voluntary benefits to include: critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident insurance, theft & legal services, and pet insurance Weight Loss and Tobacco Cessation Programs Tesla Babies program Commuter benefits Employee discounts and perks program Expected Compensation $24.40 - $50.40/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
