Hawkins Precision is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Quality Technician to join our manufacturing team. This position plays a key role in ensuring our products meet internal specifications, customer requirements, and established quality standards. The ideal candidate is hands-on, technically minded, organized, and comfortable working directly with Production and Engineering. This role combines dimensional inspection, quality documentation, problem-solving, and continuous improvement in a precision manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections of manufactured components. Operate our Keyence measurement and inspection system to perform dimensional inspections. Work with Engineering to develop and program part inspections on the Keyence system. Use precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, pin gauges, and other inspection tools. Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, dimensions, and tolerances. Perform and document First Article Inspections (FAIs). Identify, document, and communicate nonconforming material. Create and maintain Nonconforming Material Reports (NCMRs) and assist with material disposition. Create, develop, and maintain quality documentation, including procedures, work instructions, inspection documents, forms, checklists, and other standardized quality documents. Develop clear documentation that establishes consistent inspection methods and quality processes. Review and update existing quality documents as processes, products, or requirements change. Ensure quality records and documentation are accurate, organized, controlled, and readily accessible. Work closely with Production and Engineering to investigate and resolve quality issues. Help identify trends in defects, scrap, and rework and support corrective actions. Maintain inspection equipment and an organized inspection area. Support calibration and proper care of inspection and measuring equipment. Participate in root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement activities. Support internal quality audits and customer or supplier quality requirements as needed. Communicate quality concerns professionally and constructively across departments. Promote quality throughout the manufacturing process rather than relying solely on final inspection. Perform other quality-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required:

Experience in manufacturing, machining, inspection, or a related technical environment. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications. Experience using precision measuring and inspection equipment. Strong technical aptitude and willingness to learn the Keyence inspection system. Ability to create clear, accurate, and usable quality procedures, work instructions, forms, and inspection documentation. Strong written communication and documentation skills. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Basic computer skills and ability to learn quality and ERP systems. Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with Production and Engineering. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience as a Quality Technician, Quality Inspector, or in a similar manufacturing quality role. Experience with Keyence measurement and inspection systems. Experience in CNC machining or precision manufacturing. Knowledge of GD&T. Experience completing First Article Inspections. Experience creating quality procedures, work instructions, inspection plans, or other controlled documentation. Experience with NCMRs, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement. Familiarity with calibration systems and quality management systems. The right person will be curious, consistent, technically capable, and interested in understanding both the product and the manufacturing process. This position will have an active role in building and maintaining standardized quality processes and documentation. The Quality Technician should be comfortable taking a process or requirement and turning it into clear documentation that others can consistently follow. This person will also work closely with Production and Engineering, including collaborating with Engineering to develop effective inspection methods and Keyence programs for manufactured components. Strong communication and professionalism are important. The Quality Technician must be able to identify and communicate quality concerns while maintaining productive working relationships across the organization. Physical Requirements Ability to work in a manufacturing environment. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to safely handle and inspect manufactured components. Ability to use precision measuring equipment and perform detailed visual inspections. Schedule Full-time 7am to 5:30pm Monday
