PPAP Teaching Full Job Description ARC Group Worldwide Job Title:
Metrologist SUMMARY Develop production inspection routines/plans and conduct inspections for First Article/PPAP, Capability studies, and Measurement Systems Analyses to meet customer requirements and AS9100 and ISO9001 quality standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assist Engineering in New Product Development, process establishment, and process validation/verification. Perform FA/PPAP inspection, gage R&R studies and capability studies. Complete software validation for inspection programs. Develop automated inspection programs for coordinate measuring machines and optical measuring machines. Plan and layout inspection methods for piece parts submitted from new tools and check part dimensions, configurations, and characteristics for conformance with print specifications. Work with engineering to design functional gaging which meets customer requirements. Assist and monitor production part quality, work activities, troubleshoot and resolve unusual part quality problems through analytical analysis in a multi-department environment. Provide troubleshooting and analysis support to production as required. Compile data and create reports related to quality activities as required.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
Qualify/calibrate inspection tools and equipment as necessary or per an established schedule. Assist metrology lab users on test and measurement techniques and processes. Lead team on root cause analysis and corrective actions for customer returns or internal scrap issues Perform internal audits May perform other quality related tasks as requested

REQUIREMENTS
Strong willingness to learn, develop, and teach inspection-related skills. 2-3 years relevant quality assurance and metrology experience in a manufacturing environment. Programming proficiency in two or more of the following ATE systems (expert in at least one): PC-DMIS, Calypso, CMM Manager, Measuremind 3D. Understanding of technical drawings and GD&T. Self-directed, with the ability to identify and act on issues without supervision. Strong communication skills. Strong understanding of statistical principles and general understanding of methods. Experience in the use of various types of precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, optical comparator, Smartscope/OMM, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM). Good judgement in planning open setup inspection methods to check components and approve new tools and techniques for production.
