Key Responsibilities:
Perform in-process, receiving, and final inspections of precision-machined aerospace components, verifying dimensional, cosmetic, and documentation requirements. Develop, execute, and maintain inspection plans based on engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements. Program and operate Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) using software such as Calypso, PCDMIS, or CMM Manager (our software) to inspect tight-tolerance parts. Interpret complex engineering drawings and apply GD&T principles to ensure accurate measurement and verification. Record inspection results clearly and accurately, maintaining all required documentation, including Inspection Reports, NCRs, and First Article Inspections (FAI per AS9102C). Collaborate closely with machinists, engineers, and fellow inspectors to resolve quality issues and recommend improvements. Ensure compliance with AS9100D and
ISO 9001
standards in all inspection activities. Use a wide range of inspection tools, such as micrometers, calipers, indicators, height gages, and surface plates.
Desired Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in quality inspection within a precision machining aerospace environment. Experience in applying proper
ANSI Y14.5 GD&T
inspection methods. Familiarity with AS9100D and
ISO 9001
quality standards. Proficiency in CMM programming and operation (CMM Manager preferred). Strong understanding of metrology, engineering drawings, GD&T, and tight-tolerance CNC-machined parts. Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team. Experience with ERP/QMS software systems and Microsoft Office is a plus (our team uses Fulcrum). CNC machining or setup experience is a huge plus, offering valuable insight into manufacturability and inspection challenges.
