Job Profile:
Join Micron as a Quality Technician - SSD RMA Failure Analysis and become part of a team driven to deliver world-class memory and storage solutions. As a RMA Failure Analysis (FA) Technician, your hands-on duties include supporting Data Center SSD failure analysis and board-level rework activities. You will partner with engineers to complete RMA FA tasks, lead inventory and lab efforts, and support quality, audit, and safety programs. This position is well suited for a technically skilled person who enjoys hardware work, troubleshooting complex systems, and impacting product quality and customer happiness. You will work with advanced lab equipment, global operations, and cross-functional engineering teams while providing strong technical skills in PCB rework, failure analysis, and lab operations. ##
Responsibilities:
  • Receive, verify, and prepare RMA materials for testing.
  • Conduct Automated Test Equipment (ATE) operations, including preconditioning and testing devices.
  • Perform bench-level testing, debug diagnostics, extract SSD logs and isolate failing components.
  • Analyze failure data, summarize results, and track experiment progress.
  • Operate FA lab equipment such as thermal chambers, 2D X‑ray, and soldering/rework stations.
  • Complete advanced BGA rework, including removal, re-balling, and reinstallation.
  • Interpret electrical schematics and perform board-level rework, replacing failed components (resistors, capacitors, power ICs).
  • Maintain lab organization, equipment readiness, and calibration, including audit and training documentation.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Experience in quality inspection, testing, or related technical roles, with 2-3 years of hands-on PCB rework and soldering (certification a plus).
  • Proficient in debugging, diagnostics, and failure analysis, with the capability to interpret test results and collaborate closely with engineers to determine root causes.
  • Proficient in using testing equipment and accurately detailing findings and test data.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and multitasking abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with ATE operations, firmware testing, and failure analysis tools.
  • Experience working with quality programs, audits, and manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with 6S/ESD compliance and related guidelines.
  • Ability to train and mentor team members on processes and equipment usage.
  • Prior experience in semiconductor or electronics manufacturing environments.

The US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is: $26.25 - $49.00 an hour Additional compensation may include benefits, bonuses and equity. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
