Job Description PURPOSE:

The role of the SQR inspector is to serve as the customer representative during source inspection prior to shipment. To be effective, the SQR inspector must be knowledgeable about internal processing requirements as well as knowledgeable about customer specifications and requirements. Certification to each of the prime customers' requirements will be required before the SQR inspector will be allowed to sign off on shipments.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Prepare customer source inspection packages

Interpret purchase orders and quality data requirements

Review all manufacturing sequences of operations to ensure that all operations have been performed in compliance with customer and in-house requirements.

Redirect castings for re-inspection and reprocessing as necessary

Responsible for lot-by-lot release for all casting shipments. As part of this the inspector must review each lot for compliance to processing and quality requirements including NDT results.

Compile and furnish all paperwork related to the release of castings for source inspection and shipment. Perform an audit of each lot for complete conforming quality requirements including dimensional verification.

Coordinate activity with responsible supervision regarding related process and quality issues.

Performs other duties and responsibilities of equal or lesser skill, complexity, and responsibility as assigned in support of departmental and organizational objectives.

SPECIAL SKILLS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Perform a variety of casting and inspection paperwork following standard or accepted practices and process requirements. Considerable judgment and knowledge of requirements is needed to interpret lot conformance, complete process conformance, quality specifications and requirements, and Quality Purchase Order/Shipping requirements, and related decisions and maintains proper records.

Light physical effort handling parts, using inspection instruments, maintaining records and performing other duties involving constant alertness

Continuous mental or visual attention in making setups, checking parts, maintaining records and performing other duties involving constant alertness

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Over one year aerospace manufacturing experience or similar equal to 1 to 2 years practical trades training

Ability to use shop mathematics.

Work from complex part drawings and specifications.

Use a variety of precision measuring instruments.

Knowledge of inspection methods and techniques, manufacturing methods and requirements.
