Job Description

Position Summary The Quality Assurance (QA) Technician / Inspector is responsible for ensuring all products meet defined quality standards, customer requirements, and regulatory compliance throughout the manufacturing process. This role supports incoming, in-process, and final inspections, drives defect detection and containment, and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives across the operation. The position plays a critical role in maintaining product integrity, improving First Pass Yield (FPY), reducing scrap/rework, and supporting audit readiness within a regulated EMS manufacturing environment. Must be eligible to work in compliance with
U.S. ITAR
regulations, including access to export-controlled information. Key Responsibilities Inspection & Verification Perform incoming inspection of PCBs, components, and mechanical parts to IPC and customer specifications. Conduct in-process and final inspection of assemblies per
IPC-A-610
(Class 2 / Class 3 as required) and customer requirements. Execute visual inspection under magnification (microscope) for SMT and THT assemblies. Inspect BGA, fine-pitch, and critical solder joints (including X-ray verification where applicable). Ensure compliance to work instructions, control plans, and inspection criteria. Quality Control & Documentation Accurately record inspection results in
MES, ERP
systems, or manual logs. Generate and maintain inspection reports, nonconformance reports (NCRs), and defect logs. Support traceability requirements including lot control, serialization, and date code tracking. Ensure all documentation aligns with Quality Management System (QMS) requirements (ISO 9001, ISO 13485, AS9100 as applicable). Nonconformance & Containment Identify, document, and segregate nonconforming material. Initiate and support NCR and Material Review Board (MRB) processes. Assist in root cause corrective action (RCCA) investigations with data and defect evidence. Verify effectiveness of containment and corrective actions. Process & Product Support Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and Supply Chain on quality issues and improvements. Support First Article Inspection (FAI) and New Product Introduction (NPI) activities. Participate in process audits and layered process audits (LPA). Continuous Improvement Support initiatives focused on FPY improvement, scrap reduction, and defect trend analysis. Provide feedback on work instructions, inspection criteria, and process gaps. Participate in CI projects tied to KPI improvements. Compliance & Audit Readiness Ensure adherence to IPC standards (IPC-A-610, J-STD-001), customer requirements, and regulatory expectations. Support internal and external audits (ISO, AS, customer audits). Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant inspection environment (5S). Required Qualifications Must be eligible to work in compliance with
U.S. ITAR
regulations, including access to export-controlled information. High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's degree preferred). Minimum 2 years of QA or inspection experience in electronics manufacturing (EMS). Working knowledge of
IPC-A-610
(certification preferred). Experience inspecting PCB assemblies and electronic components. Proficiency using microscopes and basic measurement tools (calipers, gauges). Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, BOMs, and work instructions. Preferred Qualifications

J-STD-001
Certification. Experience with X-ray inspection and AOI systems. Familiarity with ERP/MES systems. Experience in ISO 13485 or AS9100 regulated environments. Knowledge of First Article Inspection (AS9102). Key Competencies Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Analytical thinking and problem-solving capability. Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Effective cross-functional communication. Discipline in following procedures and maintaining documentation integrity. Physical Requirements Ability to sit or stand for extended periods. Ability to work under magnification for prolonged durations.
