Full-time Scale Operator Murphy Road Recycling Position Summary:
The Scale Operator is the first point of contact for customers depositing material at a transfer station or material recovery facility. In his highly visual position, the operator will directly interface with customers, calculate payments, check loads, and ensure the safety of the customer and other employees through observation of safety rules and regulations. This position will be a floating position between our sites in East Windsor and Stratford, CT, and the hours will be 6:00 am to 4:30 pm.
Your Role:
Greet and direct customers as well as other traffic. Answer questions accurately Correctly calculate payments or customers. Enter all extra charges and load grading into the computer as called in by site personnel. Ensure that incoming loads are safe and do not contain any inappropriate material. Ensure that customers and employees safely conduct all business. Wear all the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Provide general upkeep of the Scale House. Complete all administrative tasks, including regular filing and completing required reports. Keep the immediate supervisor fully informed of all problems or matters requiring his/her attention. Perform required data entry and minor customer service responsibilities. Work all assigned shifts from the scheduled start time to the scheduled end time. Take an active role in the improvement of safety and health in the workplace. Approach all encounters with employees, customers, and vendors in a friendly, service-oriented manner. Project a knowledgeable, enthusiastic, positive attitude that encourages customers' confidence and reflects a professional image. Participate in all required Company meetings. Maintains reasonable, regular, punctual attendance consistent with Company policies, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family Medical Leave Act, and other federal, state, and local standards. Adapts to changing duties, as required, based on business needs.
Your Skills:
Good communication, oral and written skills Good interpersonal skills Ability to organize and multitask. Able to work effectively with limited supervision. Able to identify and properly use hand and power tools.
Requirements :
High School Diploma or GED Three or more years of related experience preferred.
