Job Description

Job Title:
Quality Inspector Job Description The Quality Inspector ensures that materials, work orders, and finished products meet customer, industry, and internal specifications. This role performs detailed inspections, supports continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborates closely with warehouse, sales, and laboratory teams to maintain high standards of quality and compliance. Responsibilities Inspect and release orders in accordance with customer and specification requirements. Perform pre-operation checks of work orders to ensure compliance with established requirements. Review OEM and industry specifications to determine product and material compliance. Interface with warehouse and sales personnel to resolve material quality and specification issues. Add and maintain specifications within the inventory system. Field and resolve self-assigned or delegated portal tickets related to quality issues. Evaluate the validity of customer complaints and provide timely responses. Determine the disposition of returned or nonconforming material. Assist the Quality Manager in overseeing quarantine areas and nonconforming material handling. Initiate and lead 5S warehouse campaigns to improve organization and efficiency. Develop and champion continuous improvement projects that result in best practices. Coordinate material testing with external or internal laboratories. Update and maintain test reports as necessary to reflect accurate quality data. Monitor the Positive Material Identification (PMI) program within the facility. Contribute to monthly meetings with warehouse and sales teams by providing quality-related updates and insights. Essential Skills Three or more years of experience in quality, manufacturing, process engineering, or a related field. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, including tools such as Word, Excel, and Outlook. Demonstrated motivation, initiative, and facilitation skills with evidence of progressive leadership. Experience using quality improvement tools to diagnose issues and conduct root cause analyses. Technical aptitude in applying process control, quality specifications, inspection techniques, and lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methods. Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. Proven computer skills for documentation, reporting, and data analysis. Ability to communicate and present status, actions, recommendations, and technical information clearly and efficiently in both formal and informal settings. Ability to respond to inquiries from customers, suppliers, or regulatory agencies in a timely and effective manner. Detail-oriented and service-focused approach to work. Adaptive and resourceful mindset with the ability to adjust to changing priorities. Effective time and priority management skills. Excellent written communication skills. Ability to occasionally travel, typically less than 10% of the time. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in metals manufacturing or metals-related industries is a plus. Experience in aerospace or aerospace-related environments is a plus. Background in quality control, quality assurance, inspection, or quality technician roles. Familiarity with lean manufacturing concepts and continuous improvement methodologies. Exposure to Positive Material Identification (PMI) programs or similar material verification processes. Work Environment This role operates in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where you will work closely with warehouse, sales, and laboratory teams. You will regularly handle technical documents, specifications, and test reports, and use tools such as Microsoft Office and quality improvement systems. Occasional travel of less than 10% may be required. The setting emphasizes organization, 5S practices, and adherence to quality and process control standards. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Windsor, CT. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
