Job Description

Job Summary Constellation Technology is seeking a detail-oriented Materials Technician to support our ISO 17025-accredited materials testing laboratory. This role focuses on sample preparation, routine testing, and laboratory support activities for metals, polymers, composites, and related materials. The Materials Technician will work under the guidance of senior technical staff while contributing to accurate, timely, and high-quality laboratory results. Due to U.S. government contract and export-control requirements, candidates must be U.S. citizens. Key Responsibilities Perform sample preparation including sectioning, mounting, grinding, polishing, and etching Conduct routine hardness testing and basic mechanical testing Maintain clean, organized, and efficient sample workflow Label, track, and document samples accurately Maintain accurate, audit-ready laboratory records Assist with equipment setup, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting Support laboratory operations and cross-functional testing activities Ensure compliance with
ISO 17025
standards and safety procedures Handle materials and equipment safely and according to protocol Qualifications Minimum Requirements High school diploma or associate's degree in a technical field 1-3 years of laboratory, manufacturing, or materials-related experience (or equivalent hands-on experience) Must be a US citizen Preferred Skills Experience with metallographic sample preparation (sectioning, mounting, grinding, polishing, etching) Familiarity with laboratory equipment and standardized testing procedures Experience with materials testing environments Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and documentation skills Ability to follow established procedures and work independently with minimal supervision Mechanical aptitude with hands-on troubleshooting and problem-solving ability Salary $18 - $22/hour Benefits 9/80 work schedule (every other Friday off) Health, dental, and vision insurance Paid time off (PTO) 401(k) retirement plan Work Environment Laboratory setting with exposure to materials, equipment, and testing processes Strict safety and quality compliance required How to Apply Submit your resume to: resume@contech.com Equal Opportunity Employer Constellation Technology is an equal opportunity employer and values diversity in the workplace.
