The QA Specialist position will assist with regular QA audits and compliance work. While direct experience is not required, having experience in the behavioral industry is required .
POSITION DESCRIPTION
: We are looking for a detail-oriented quality assurance specialist to maintain QA audits and records to ensure the organization's quality assurance standards and procedures are met. The quality assurance specialists responsibilities include conducting reviews of patient charts to ensure they comply with the company's QA standards, identifying issues in the chart and with processes and procedures, and presenting solutions. The quality assurance specialist will also assist in preparing medical records and writing appeal letters. Salary commensurate with experience. Competitive Salary Offered Commensurate w/ Experience
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform internal audits of staff documentation and programs/levels of care and report on the accuracy, timeliness, and content of the information documented in the patient's chart. Submit deficiencies to appropriate staff and supervisors. Perform quality assurance checks of patient charts to ensure medical necessity is being met and that documentation supports reimbursement accuracy. Interpret quality assurance standards to ensure quality care to patients by department and/or organization wide. Document quality assurance activities and audits. Collaborate with the medical records department in reviewing patient medical records and utilize clinical and regulatory knowledge and skills along with payer requirements. Remain current on regulatory best practices policies, as well as with ongoing compliance issues, provide feedback to appropriate personnel. Stay well-informed of industry changes and regulations to ensure adherence and proactive preparedness. Administrative tasks such as answering requests for medical records, printing, faxing, and scanning. Knowledge of HIPAA, state, and federal confidentiality laws regarding substance abuse and mental health patients and records. Ensuring appropriate release of information is on file prior to releasing records.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
: High school diploma/GED required Any kind of behavioral health treatment center experienced required (BHT, Admissions, Case Manager encouraged to apply) Previous experience in quality assurance, compliance, medical records, or a similar field. Working knowledge of levels of care, regulatory standards, and concepts of quality assurance as it relates to the documentation of substance abuse and mental health treatment records Adaptable, able to perform multiple working tasks at a time when needed. Critical thinker, able to conceptualize, apply, analyze, and evaluate information gathered as a guide to validate audit results and correct as necessary.
